🌳 Now Accepting Applications: OFA Foundation Conservation Education Grants! 🌳

Do you have a project that helps educate Ohioans about forestry, conservation, natural resources, or the importance of our forests? The Ohio Forestry Association Foundation is now accepting applications for its Conservation Education Grant Program!

Eligible organizations can apply for grants of up to $2,500 to support projects that align with the OFA Foundation's mission of providing financial, educational, and technical resources that promote conservation education and increase awareness of the vital role forests play in our environment and economy.

North Central Ohio Women Owning Woodlands was a recipient of an OFAF grant in 2026. They constructed these awesome forestry tool kits that woodland owners can rent instead of investing in all the equipment up front!

📅 Application Period: September 1 through October 31
💰 Maximum Grant Award: $2,500
📣 Awards Announced: By December 1 for funding in the following year

Last week we sponsored and hosted the annual meeting for the National Council of Forestry Association Executives! During times when the industry is facing market losses and challenges with forest resilience, national partnerships where proactive discussions occur are critical! Executives from coast to coast gathered at the beautiful Sawmill Creek Resort for 3 days of brainstorming, connecting, and educational sessions designed to keep the pulse on the past and present and to help build a bright and sustainable future for the industry. Big thanks to all those who attended, to NCFAE, and to the resort staff who helped the event flow smoothly.

OFA Conservation Awards Spotlight 🔦: 2025 Outstanding Individual in Private Service
Alex Kindler of Kindler Forest Management, LLC has been an outspoken advocate of the OFA and the value of being a member for consulting foresters. He understands the value of a trained and professionally certified logging industry as well as relationships with woodland owners. In the past few years he has demonstrated leadership and administrative assistance in his local Logging Chapter (MVLC) and Woodland interest group (MRWIG). Accompanied by his business and life partner, Abby, Kindler Forest Management has assisted landowners and loggers alike. Congratulations Alex!

2025 Walt Lange Conservation Education award winner: Dave Parrot!
After graduating with a Bachelor's and Master's in Forestry from the University of Kentucky, Dave Parrot then worked his way through the industry and the Buckeye state until becoming ODNR Department of Forestry's Communications Manager. Dave now produces countless prolific educational YouTube videos, oversees a team at the DOF who accomplish tons of notable projects each year, as well as curates ODNR's presence at the Ohio State Fair, serves as the editor of the Ohio Woodland Journal, plus so much more! Congratulations Dave!
