Partnering for stronger cities and villages. OML serves as the primary connection point between municipal and state government.

The Ohio Municipal League (OML) is a statewide association that represents the collective interests of Ohio’s cities and villages to the Ohio General Assembly, as well as to the state elected and administrative offices. In addition to representation and advocacy, OML offers training and networking programs for officials from the league’s more than 700 member communities.

The mayors emphasize that effective local leadership means listening to residents, solving problems, and putting communities ahead of political differences.

On this National First Responders Day, OML recognizes the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and other first responders who serve Ohio's cities and villages.

First responders are essential to the services municipalities provide, helping keep residents safe, protecting property, and responding when their communities need them most.

OML recently partnered with the Ohio Economic Development Association on the first edition of Data Centers: A Plain-Language Toolkit for Ohio Communities, a new resource designed to help local officials better understand data center development and make informed decisions about proposals in their communities.

The toolkit takes no position on whether a community should host a data center. Instead, it provides nine plain-language units, answers to common resident questions, and practical situation playbooks to help officials navigate important decisions.

After calls for a gas tax holiday from both major party gubernatorial candidates, the Ohio General Assembly gave approval to legislation temporarily reducing the state’s motor fuel tax for 90 days while using General Revenue Fund dollars to replace revenue that otherwise would have supported state and local transportation needs.
