Those of you who are criticizing what we are trying to do at the club... where have you been during the last few years, when it was about to close down? The club was always meant to be a place for alcoholics and addicts to gather to enjoy sober activities. And though we have been awarded grants over the years, we were still about to close. I am only in the position of Manager, because nobody else would do it, and the thought of this safe haven closing, was devastating to me. I frequented the Club when it was on the corner of Eureka.I was a daily bar patron. I needed a place like the club, so I could do things sober. I absolutely know that I would not have stayed sober without it. I know for a fact that for years selling these tickets was a needed source of revenue for many of the bills and purchases. We are trying to stay open, and accumulate enough money that we can add all kinds of things for sober entertainment. Things we have in mind...
A monitored room fo kids, with kid friendly foosball etc. A skeeball game, Electronic dart board etc. We very much want the club to involve things for families, as well. All of this costs money. We are doing what we believe necessary to keep revene to pay bills and buy the things that can inprove our atmosphere. We are doing what we feel we need to help the Recovery Community so that they can enjoy being sober. Should you have suggestions, perhaps you would like to actually tell us what you think, in person and come and help. Maybe introduce yourself instead of criticizing. It would be more helpful and would certainly be more in line with the principles in which we try to abide.
