Some events fill a room. Others create connections that continue long after everyone leaves. 💐📚

That’s what we experienced at the Book Chicks Author Expo.

Authors traveled from different states and represented different backgrounds, cultures, genres, and journeys, but for a few hours, they shared the same space to connect, learn, laugh, network, and celebrate one another.

And that room existed because Kiwan “Coach K” Fitch had a vision and brought it to life.

So instead of only telling you what we thought about the Expo, we asked some of the people who experienced it to share what the moment meant to them and a few words for the woman behind it.

Coach K, these flowers are for you. 💐

And we’re not finished yet. We still have more moments from the Book Chicks Author Expo to share. Stay tuned. 👀

📚✨ They came from near. They came from far. And they came READY to connect.

The Book Chicks Author Expo brought authors together from Virginia, Sumter, Philadelphia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and beyond! 🌎📖

This wasn’t just a room full of books—it was a room full of connections, introductions, conversations, opportunities, and new markets waiting to be explored.

If you missed it… you definitely missed something. 👀

And trust us, this is only the beginning. Stay tuned as we continue recapping the moments, the authors, and the connections that made the Book Chicks Author Expo one to remember. ✨

He knew you needed this message today—even if you didn’t know you did. ❤️

We all have moments when we question ourselves, feel discouraged, or wonder if we have what it takes to keep going.

But sometimes, the message we need comes through someone else at exactly the right time.

In our latest conversation, Janine Ryans, founder of From Rosie With Love, shared a powerful reminder about trusting God, believing in yourself, and recognizing just how far you’ve already come.

If this message speaks to you, comment “RECEIVED” and send it to someone who needs this reminder, too. 🙏🏽✨

🌱 You asked. We listened. Now it’s time to plant the seed.

While in Canada, we asked the community what Brwngrlz Collective should read next—and you helped us choose our September read! 📚🌎

Our September theme is “Plant the Seed, Read the Harvest,” and this month, we’re reading:

📖 A Walk for Justice by Chinyere M. Udeh

This month, we’re turning the pages toward justice, community, resilience, and the power of taking a stand. Because sometimes planting the seed means starting a conversation, challenging what needs to change, and asking what our role is in creating a better harvest.

We’re taking this conversation beyond the pages—bringing our experiences, perspectives, and questions to the table.

🌱 Plant the seed.
📖 Read the harvest.
💬 Join the conversation.

Will you be reading A Walk for Justice with us? 👀

Today proved that impact isn’t measured only by how many people fill a room, but by what happens when the right people come together.

The Book Chicks Author Expo was beautifully executed. The turnout felt perfect for the space, and the energy in the room was unmatched. Everyone understood the assignment: to meet, to network, to learn, to grow, and to expand.

There were authors from different states and backgrounds all representing so many different genres, along with valuable panels that offered something for everyone, whether they were on step one, step two, or further along in their journey toward becoming a more successful and widely known author.

A special shout-out to Coach K. She didn’t stop at saying, “I want to make this happen.” She took the idea, did the work, and brought it to life beautifully.

Events like this remind me of what we can create within our own communities. Columbia, we have to keep showing up and participating because these spaces are meaningful, impactful, and essential to supporting entrepreneurship, generating revenue, and strengthening our own economy.

BrwnGrlz Collective was grateful to experience it, capture it, and connect with so many amazing women and men today. This is what community looks like.

Juneteenth may be celebrated on June 19th, but community, culture, and our history don’t stop there. ❤️🤎

While at the Juneteenth Festival, we took to the community to ask: What does the next chapter look like for you? 👀

Because at Brwngrlz Collective, we believe The Next Chapter Begins With You. And our conversations with the community are just one part of the story.

Throughout August, we’re continuing the conversation through our community interviews, book club replays, and conversations that connect us to culture, growth, and one another.

I came for the tea… and left with a prayer partner. 🫖🤎🙏🏾

Last night I attended The 7th Hour, hosted by Bianca Chardei, and yes—the tea was GOOD 😂 but the real takeaway was the connection.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was exchanging prayer cards with another woman in the room. We exchanged information with the intention of connecting for a prayer call the next morning, and I had the pleasure of connecting with Madame Juicedd.

It reminded me that community doesn’t just happen. Someone has to create the space, and we have to be willing to show up.

We never really know what it took for someone to put an event together—or what another person had to push through just to get there. Sometimes we need spaces where we can disconnect from everything we’re carrying for a moment, meet new people, find our tribe, laugh, talk, pray, and simply connect.

And Columbia… y’all have been hiding some gems. 👀😂

If you’re looking for a grown, chill night out, check out The Chandelier Café and see what they have coming up—from poetry and book clubs to karaoke and more.

Get out. Try something different. Meet somebody new.

You never know who you’re supposed to meet—or what you might receive just because you decided to show up. 🤎

The next chapter begins with YOU. ✨

While at the Juneteenth Festival, we connected with Don, owner of Modern Roofing USA, for a conversation about her business, her journey, and what the next chapter looks like for her.

We’re bringing you more conversations with the people shaping our communities—one story at a time. 🎤

Catch this interview and our latest Book Club replays on our YouTube channel, and stay connected with us for more community, culture & conversations.
