It's Not Just Ci******es Anymore

Today, the WHO (World Health Organization) and PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) are shining a light on ni****ne pouch tactics worldwide — and so are we.

Ni****ne pouches like Zyn are being marketed as a cleaner alternative, but make no mistake: they are still highly addictive. Ni****ne is ni****ne, no matter the packaging.

🚫 Don’t let sleek branding fool you or your kids.

🚭 Today is World No To***co Day.

To***co and ni****ne products continue to target and addict young people, putting a new generation at risk for lifelong addiction.

This World No To***co Day, we’re raising awareness about the tactics used to make to***co and ni****ne products appealing and reminding everyone that addiction isn’t part of growing up.

You can make a difference by:
✅ Talking with young people about the risks of ni****ne
✅ Supporting to***co-free schools and communities
✅ Taking a 24-hour ni****ne break
✅ Encouraging someone you care about on their quit journey

Together, we can unmask the appeal and build a healthier, to***co-free South Carolina.

Young people are facing a growing risk. Adolescents are 9x more likely to v**e than adults, a powerful call to strengthen youth prevention efforts.
To***co companies are targeting young people whose brains are vulnerable to ni****ne addiction.
And va**ng can harm more than you think:
🧠 Ni****ne is highly addictive and impairs brain development in under-25s
☠️ V**e aerosols contains toxic substances
🫁 Va**ng increases risk of lung disorders
❤️ Va**ng increases risk of cardiovascular disease
Here’s what governments can do to protect youth: Ban flavors, marketing and designs that increase youth appeal.

Faith leaders and advocates nationwide are speaking out today for No Menthol Sunday.
Menthol ci******es are easier to start and harder to quit, a major reason youth and new smokers are drawn to them.
Smokefree SC is proud to stand with partners across the country to protect the next generation.

💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and here’s a truth every parent and teen should know:

Ni****ne doesn’t relieve stress — it triggers it.
When the ni****ne wears off, the brain goes into withdrawal, which feels like anxiety, irritability, and restlessness. Teens often mistake that feeling for “stress,” so they v**e again… and the cycle continues.

🧠 Healthier ways to manage stress:

1. Movement breaks
2. Deep breathing
3. Talking to a trusted adult
4. Go outside

Let’s help SC youth build real coping skills, not ni****ne dependence.
