Kawisha’s extra classes were 3 kilometers from home, and the bus fare added up fast. Other kids in her community also had to walk far each day, often arriving at school too exhausted to focus.

The result: kids missing school, missing center activities, falling behind. Center staff could encourage attendance all they wanted, but the real barrier was simple — getting there.

So Kawisha’s Compassion center started giving children brand-new bikes. She’d never had one of her own before. She used to ride her friend’s just to learn.

Now, 49 children have bikes of their own. The center’s already seeing the difference: kids showing up on time, more energy in class, and families saving what they used to spend on bus fare.

Turns out, the biggest obstacle between a child and their education wasn’t motivation. 🚲
