Recently, our President and CEO, Nate Springer, sat down with Food Secure Nation for an in-depth conversation about food insecurity and how it impacts communities across Southern Colorado and the nation.

At Care and Share Food Bank, we see firsthand how food insecurity affects individuals and families in our communities. We’re proud to serve more than 366,000 neighbors through 305 partner agencies, helping provide access to more than 18 million meals.

This conversation highlights the importance of addressing hunger, strengthening our communities, and working together to ensure everyone has access to the nutritious food they need.

Here are some items you cannot purchase with SNAP:

Alcohol and to***co products
Hot, prepared foods meant to be eaten immediately
Non-food items, such as pet food, paper goods, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies

HOLY CROP! 2,536 POUNDS OF TOMATOES RESCUED!
What started as a Tuesday morning glean with 24 incredible volunteers turned into the rescue of more than 2,500 pounds of fresh, locally grown Pueblo tomatoes in just TWO HOURS!
And we had some amazing young gleaners join us, too! Kids got their hands dirty, picked tomatoes, and saw firsthand how rescuing food can help nourish our neighbors instead of going to waste.
Thanks to our partnership with UpRoot, Dionisio Farms, and an incredible network of volunteers and community partners, these tomatoes were distributed across Southern Colorado to:

🥫 Rocky Ford Methodist Church Food Pantry
🥫 RMSER
🥫 Care and Share Food Bank
🥫 Pueblo United
🥫 Pueblo Cooperative Care Center

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this possible—from the volunteers in the field to the folks who transported, weighed, loaded, and distributed this incredible harvest.
2,536 pounds didn’t get rescued because of one person or one organization. It happened because a whole bunch of people said YES.
That’s the power of community.
