Looking for a way to make a difference in our community? We have two great volunteer opportunities, each making an impact in a different way.

🥫 **Solid Rock Food Center**
Help ensure families in our community have access to food. Volunteers assist with sorting donations, stocking shelves, packing food, helping guests, organizing the pantry, and supporting distributions. Every volunteer helps make sure our neighbors don't have to face hunger alone.

🌿 **Solid Rock Aquaponics Farm**
Help us grow fresh, healthy food right here in our community. Volunteers assist with planting, harvesting lettuce, maintaining growing systems, and learning about sustainable food production. The food grown helps increase access to fresh produce for local families.

Whether you enjoy working with people, working with plants, or both, there is a place for you here.

🥣 Help Us Fill Our Shelves With Breakfast for Families 🥛

I'm reaching out to see if any business, organization, church, school, community group, or individual would be willing to host a cereal and shelf-stable milk drive for Solid Rock Community Development Corporation.

The goal is to collect:

✅ 600 boxes of cereal
✅ 600 shelf-stable milks

Why 600?

Because those 600 cereals and 600 milks will help us keep breakfast items on our shelves for approximately one week and help ensure families have something simple and nutritious to start their day during the summer months when children are home from school.

For many families, summer means higher grocery bills because children are home all day. Something as simple as a bowl of cereal and milk can help ease the burden and make mornings a little less stressful.

Every donation makes a difference.

Whether you collect 10 items, 50 items, or hundreds, you are helping families in our community put breakfast on the table.

🍅🥭 Weekly Recipe Spotlight : Tomatoes & Mangos 🥭🍅

Did you know that tomatoes and mangos pair together beautifully in a fresh summer salad?

If you picked up tomatoes and mangos from the pantry this week, give this simple recipe a try!

Tomato & Mango Salad

Ingredients:
• 2 tomatoes, diced
• 1 ripe mango, diced
• 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
• Juice of 1 lime
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Fresh cilantro or parsley (optional)

Directions:

1. Combine tomatoes, mango, and onion in a bowl.
2. Drizzle with lime juice and olive oil.
3. Season with salt and pepper.

Before school let out, one of our amazing Harrison School District 2 partners, Centennial Elementary School, took the time to honor our volunteers for helping ensure families in our community do not go hungry with the bags of food we make for the families at the school weekly during the school year.

It is always a blessing to work alongside partners who recognize the heart, dedication, and impact of our volunteers. The work they do each week goes far beyond packing food bags. They are helping children, supporting families, and making sure no one feels forgotten.

To our volunteers, thank you for showing up, caring deeply, and making a difference in the lives of others. And to Centennial Elementary, thank you for taking the time to show appreciation to those who serve. Acts of gratitude like this remind us that we are stronger when we work together for our community.

Together, we are helping ensure families have access to food, hope, and support when they need it most. ❤️

Our pantry is currently in need of dry cat food, dry dog food, and adult diapers (sizes Small–Large).

Donations can be dropped off at the food pantry during the following hours:

Monday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Thanks to the King Soopers Zero Hunger Zero Waste program, we recently got jambalaya mix on our shelves at the Solid Rock Food Center and honestly it’s such a great pantry item to help make a quick, filling meal. 🙌

Just add a protein if desired like sausage, chicken, shrimp, or even beans and you have a flavorful one-pot meal ready in under 30 minutes.

Jambalaya mix is inspired by traditional New Orleans-style cooking and usually includes seasoned rice and vegetables, making it an easy meal option for busy families while still being hearty and comforting. It’s also a great way to stretch ingredients and feed multiple people without spending a lot.

Let’s thank our Friday volunteers one of the harder shifts to get people to show up for. But the few who do, do it so gracefully, helping get the pantry cleaned, stocked, and prepped for next week.
