In Brevard County, countless families dedicate themselves to caring for aging loved ones, a journey filled with both profound love and immense challenges. The Sunflower House Caregiver Resource Center, a vital program of Aging Matters in Brevard, stands as a beacon of hope and support for these unsung heroes. We believe that no caregiver should walk this path alone.

Last year alone, the Sunflower House provided crucial information and resources to 315 individuals, offering a lifeline of guidance and connection.

Supported 315 caregivers
Hosted 150 educational workshops
Loaned 515 medical items to 413 seniors
Engaged 196 participants in recreational programs
Our dedicated volunteers contributed over 1,250 hours to ensure every call for help was answered.

The Sunflower House is more than a center; it's a community where caregivers find strength, resources, and understanding.
It's where seniors maintain their independence and quality of life, surrounded by care. Every program, every workshop, every piece of equipment loaned, is made possible by the generosity of our community.

Your support ensures that the Sunflower House can continue to shine brightly for Brevard's caregivers and seniors. Join us in championing independence, health, and dignity. Please consider making a donation or volunteering your time.

Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who have given so much.

Our South Lot (Melbourne Site) Meals on Wheels volunteers kicked off our End the Wait Campaign and truly “hit the ground” running!

This important initiative, launched by Meals on Wheels America, shines a light on the growing number of seniors facing food insecurity while waiting for critical meal services.

Every day, too many vulnerable seniors remain on waiting lists, unsure where their next nutritious meal will come from. Together, we can help change that.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers and supporters who are helping raise awareness and working to ensure no senior is left waiting for the nourishment, care, and connection they deserve.

Recently, our Board Chair Laurie Smirl brought friends Cindy and Bill Greenleaf to visit the Aging Matters Sunflower House, where they experienced firsthand the incredible sense of connection and community shared by the seniors who gather there regularly.

The seniors spoke so warmly about the activities, friendships, laughter, and support they receive from one another. What began as a place to gather has truly become an extended family for many.

That same weekend, volunteers from Rotary District 6930 joined us for their Epic Day of Service, helping spruce up the Sunflower House by planting new flowers and spreading fresh mulch to brighten the space for the seniors we serve.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Aging Matters and help create places where seniors feel connected, valued, and cared for.

Aging Matters in Brevard is facing a critical challenge: while costs and needs are rising, our funding is decreasing. This has led to a ballooning waitlist for our vital senior meal program.
For many homebound seniors, these meals are so much more than just nutrition. They are a daily wellness check, a visit from a friendly face, and a crucial way to combat loneliness and depression. No one should have to wait for a meal.

We delivered over 264,000 meals to 1,436 homebound seniors last year, but the need continues to grow. With 1 in 3 Brevard residents now aged 60 or older, the demand for our services is higher than ever.
Will you help us ?

BINGO at our senior lunch sites is always a serious competition — especially when it comes time to verify the winner! 😊 But between the number calling, laughter, jokes, and friendly banter, the real prize is the joy and connection shared by everyone in the room.

Our seniors LOVE winning small prizes, and we’re looking for fun giveaway items to help keep the games exciting! If you, your family, or your company would like to donate small prizes, gift items, or promotional giveaways, we would love to hear from you.

Aging Matters in Brevard hosts lunch sites throughout Brevard County where seniors gather not only for nutritious meals, but also for friendship, laughter, and social connection.

Help us keep the fun going! 🎉

We are so grateful to the wonderful ladies from the Order of the Eastern Star for putting together thoughtful gifts and personally delivering them to the seniors at our lunch site. Their kindness, generosity, and time brought so many smiles and meaningful moments of connection.

Our seniors were truly thrilled and touched by the visit. Thank you for reminding our community’s older adults that they are loved, remembered, and celebrated.

What an incredible evening of celebration, gratitude, and reflection at our Annual Dinner!

We were honored to recognize the dedicated staff members who make our mission possible every single day. Their compassion, commitment, and hard work help ensure seniors in our community receive the support, nutrition, connection, and care they deserve.

The evening was also a celebration of the many successes we achieved together this year—from serving more homebound seniors and expanding vital services to strengthening partnerships and engaging volunteers across our community. None of this would be possible without the collective efforts of our staff, volunteers, donors, and supporters.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in our mission and helps us create a community where older adults can age with dignity, independence, and purpose. Together, we are making a meaningful difference.

We are honored that Tom Kammerdener, our President & CEO, was included in the opening remarks at the Topping Off Ceremony for the Forest Glen Affordable Senior Living Community in Titusville.

As Tom shared about the partnership between HFH and Aging Matters:
“Working together with purpose, promoting health, safety and quality of life because everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity.”

This collaboration reflects the power of community partnerships in creating safe, supportive environments where older adults can thrive with independence and dignity. We are grateful to stand alongside organizations committed to making a lasting impact for seniors in our community.
