Su***de Prevention Month is a reminder to check in, speak up, and make sure veterans know they don’t have to face difficult moments alone. 💙

But supporting veterans shouldn’t be limited to one month. Throughout the year, National Veterans Homeless Support works to reach homeless and at-risk veterans, connect them with resources, and help address the challenges that can put their housing, stability, and well-being at risk.

Programs like Search & Rescue give NVHS the opportunity to meet veterans where they are, build connections, and help them take the next step toward stability.

National Recovery Month, observed each September, recognizes the strength of individuals navigating recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. It is also an opportunity to learn, challenge stigma, and remind people that reaching out for help is a meaningful step toward wellness.

When our team found Robert lying on the concrete beside the few belongings he had, it was clear he needed more than immediate relief—he needed a pathway to stability.

Through NVHS Housing & Homelessness Prevention services, veterans who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of losing their housing can receive case management, housing assistance, and connections to critical community resources that support long-term stability.

Florida summers can be dangerous for veterans living without stable housing.

Extreme heat puts those living outdoors at serious risk of heat stroke, dehydration, and medical emergencies, especially homeless and at-risk veterans without access to shelter, shade, or cooling.

Through NVHS’s Search & Rescue Program, outreach teams actively look for and connect veterans living in these conditions to immediate resources, support, and pathways toward safety and stability.

No veteran should have to face extreme weather alone.
