Welcome to the official page of Jewel Heart Cleveland and the teachings of Demo Rinpoche, Jewel Heart Residential Spiritual Advisor and Kyabje Gelek Rimpoche (1939 - 2017), its founder. Jewel Heart is dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan Buddhism and to bringing the practice of this rich tradition within the context of contemporary life to everyone. In 1988, Jewel Heart was founded in

Ann Arbor, Michigan, with chapters and study groups throughout the US, in Malaysia and Singapore and the Netherlands. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2017, Demo Rinpoche serves as the Resident Spiritual Advisor at Jewel Heart. Jewel Heart carries on the living tradition of Tibetan Buddhism in the West, with a particular emphasis on the lineage of Je Tsongkhapa. Jewel Heart programs continue to be based on Gelek Rimpoche's teachings as well as teachings by Demo Rinpoche. Programs include retreats, study programs, guest speakers, digital dharma, tsohs and ritual ceremonies and are supported by an extensive audio/video and transcript archive. Jewel Heart provides opportunities to study and learn at all levels of interest and connection, from introductory meditation and community outreach programs to in-depth study and vajrayana practice.

Memorial Service for Claude "Larry" Cornett

On Wednesday, June 17, it will be 7 weeks since our Sangha member and good friend Larry Cornett passed away so, in keeping with tradition, we will be holding a memorial service and Lama Chopa for him on that date.

We hope you'll join us and share memories and stories about Larry as we gather to send him off to a fortunate rebirth!

The service will be held on Zoom and is open to the everyone but, because disrupting public Zoom meetings seems to be a "trending" activity, we've set it up so that pre-registration is required. (The link to register is below.)

We just received word that long-time Jewel Heart Cleveland member and beloved friend Larry Cornett passed away on April 30, 2026 from a heart attack. Please remember him in your prayers. He will be deeply missed.

The Six Perfections
Wednesdays, January 7 - February 25, 2026,

"In order to ripen our own mind the six activities are there.
In order to help ripen others’ minds four are there."

For a bodhisattva every activity becomes practice, because you are totally committed to the benefit of all sentient beings.

Among the activities of a bodhisattva there are none which do not become part of either one of the six paramitas. You are not going to find any positive activity which is not a part of these six or a negative activity which is not the opposite of it.

The class will meet weekly on Zoom. A PDF of Gelek Rimpoche's transcript "The Six Perfections" will be provided to all participants.
