Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) LEDI’s is located in Cleveland, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia and throughout Liberia, West Africa.

Our vision is to establish and promote meaningful social and economic development in order to empower the poor and disadvantaged people of Liberia. Reducing poverty, changing lives… is not just our motto, it is the heart of our mission. Whether we are empowering youth, providing small business loans, promoting health and safety, building infrastructure, or alleviating the sufferings of rural and urban poor and low income household, our central focus remains to reduce poverty, thereby positively changing the lives of members of the nearly two-third Liberian population living below the poverty line.

Under the theme "We Are The Light," this milestone black-tie event will celebrate four extraordinary visionaries shaping education, public service, healthcare, and cultural narrative:

In 19 days, we will all gather in Atlanta for an evening of celebration.
But for us at Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) October 24 is about what happens when people decide to turn recognition into action.
We will celebrate individuals and cooperate partners who have used their work, their influence and their resources to make a difference.
But we will also be talking about something bigger,
What will we do next?
Because a scholarship does not end when the award is given.
A healthcare program does not end when supplies are delivered.
A library does not end when the building is completed.
The real question is what becomes possible afterward.

More students reaching their potential.
More families accessing care.
More young people gaining knowledge and opportunity.
More communities building a stronger future.

At just 12 years old, Sean becomes the youngest recipient in LEDI’s history. An American Mensa member since age four and a global STEM educator reaching more than two million followers, Sean aligns seamlessly with LEDI’s mission to expand access to education, literacy, and opportunity.

Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) is honored to announce Donna W. Hyland, former CEO of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, as a 2026 LEDI International Life Changer Award Honoree!

During her 40-year tenure, Ms. Hyland spearheaded pivotal milestones in pediatric care, including expanding specialized centers (Marcus Autism Center, The Center for Advanced Pediatrics, Zalik Center), elevating NIH research partnerships, opening the 19-story Arthur M. Blank Hospital, and serving on key governing bodies including the Atlanta Committee for Progress, Cousins Properties, Genuine Parts Company, and Truist Atlanta Advisory Board. This week in Liberia, hundreds of women are gaining access to savings groups, seed funding, and entrepreneurship training.

Young business owners are being prepared to become investment-ready. And at Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) we keep thinking about the psychology behind that. Somewhere in Liberia today is a woman with an idea.

She knows her customers.
She understands her community's needs.
She knows how hard she's willing to work.

What she may lack is capital, the right introduction, or someone willing to say, I believe this can work.

Often, the difference between potential and progress isn't talent; it's an opportunity, and we've learned this through Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) work.

When you support a student's education, you aren't rescuing a student. You're investing in what she might become.

When you support a woman building a business, you're not simply giving her money. You're giving an idea the chance to generate income, independence, and perhaps opportunities for other people.

When you invest in healthcare, you're not just funding a statistic. You're helping someone stay healthy enough to raise a family, earn a living, and contribute to the community.
