"Here’s the thing about fighting. It’s always the punch you don’t see coming that floors you.

BANG! 💥

Hosey throws a wild right hand that started all the way back in the clubhouse, traveled across the diamond and right into Anderson’s face, answering the immortal question of what happens when an unstoppable force meets a regular man’s jaw. 😵‍💫

🎙️ 'DOWN GOES ANDERSON! DOWN GOES ANDERSON!!!'

I can still hear Hammy’s call. Tom Hamilton, whose voice I will always hear in the back of my head for the rest of my life, captured the bedlam of the moment in the way only a master storyteller can as Tim Anderson went to the ground and José Ramírez went into the pantheon of greatest athletes in the history of this city." 🗞️

Greater Cleveland and its surrounding communities have about 80 Little Free Libraries 📚, part of a much larger movement that has established 150,000 registered book boxes worldwide.

The local book exchange, funded by Cleveland Public Library and other sources, is monitored and replenished by 50 volunteers from the National Council of Jewish Women/Cleveland (NCJW). 🗞️

“Something is going profoundly wrong from any kind of public health or mental health perspective,” said Dr. Sanjay Basu, a University of California-San Francisco epidemiologist who cowrote a study documenting the increase in mortality and su***de rates among ICE detainees. “This is one of those alarming, sudden increases.” 🗞️

Stir offers summer cooking camps for kids. Are they successful? 🤔🧑‍🍳

"When we started Stir, we swore we wouldn’t do kids classes because we thought they would muddy the brand. Eventually, people started asking about kids classes and we re-considered offering them, but only if we did them well. I still wanted the lessons to be offered under a different brand and when we brainstormed the name 'YoungStirs.' We knew then we had no choice but to offer kids classes, because it’s such a good name. After a slow start, they’re now gangbusters. The summer camps are fantastic. We take them seriously and put a lot of work into them. Some kids attend who are new to cooking. Others arrive with a notebook full of comments about their past cooking successes and failures. I see our kids classes continuing to grow in popularity." 🗞️

In their current form, data centers are enormous power sucks wrapped in a guise of economic development, says Cleveland Councilmember Charles Slife, who goes so far as to call them “exploitative” of residents.

“They’re creating economic output, but the benefits are getting exported elsewhere,” says Slife. “Traditional manufacturing creates more spillover jobs in trucking and the supply chain. What I worry about with Cleveland is these (tech companies) coming into distressed communities and expecting to be met with broad enthusiasm. They imply that people should be grateful to receive anything, whether or not it’s of substance.” 🗞️

“It was more about the congestion,” Cleveland police spokesman Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz said.

“The attendance peaked late Sunday afternoon to unprecedented levels, leading city officials to determine that the venue had reached a critical safety limit,” Cleveland Asian Festival organizers said in a prepared statement. “Citing concerns over isolated heat-related medical incidents and restricted EMS access due to area road construction, traffic, and large crowds, the Cleveland Asian Festival was directed to close the festival early. The Cleveland Asian Festival immediately complied and worked alongside local authorities to conduct an orderly shutdown.” 🗞️
