Supporting Military Readiness and Resilience Through Land Conservation

The Compatible Lands Foundation addresses land use challenges through collaborative land conservation efforts. We work with public agencies, local governments, private landowners, and other partners to identify, enhance and protect important undeveloped or inappropriately developed lands and prohibit incompatible land uses through a variety of conservation tools. In most cases, CLF purchases conse

rvation easements from willing landowners, prohibiting incompatible land uses but allowing open space activities such as farming, ranching, and hunting.

But every cow grazing on protected ranch land helps keep open space open, reduces development pressure near military installations, and supports the landscapes that make military training possible.

So while they may not wear a uniform, they're helping protect the landscapes that protect America.

Soldiers assigned to the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) have conducted the annual Memorial Day tradition since 1948, placing more than 260,000 flags throughout the cemetery to honor fallen service members, veterans, and their families.
