After 500+ days…..
🏡✨OTIS FOUND HIS HAPPILY EVER AFTER!! ✨🏡
Once upon a time, we started counting the days Otis had been with Okie Pet Rescue. First, it was one month. Then three. Then six months. Then a year. Eventually, the memories from the year before started popping up on our phones… but the applications never came.
Otis was loved, adored, and so incredibly worth the wait. We kept wondering when his time would come. He tried three different homes, but none of them were quite the right fit. We just knew his person was out there somewhere.
Then, two weeks ago, someone decided to take a chance on Otis. An application came in. A meet-and-greet was scheduled. And his adopter saw what we had always known: **Otis is an amazing dog, and he is so very special.**
That Sunday, Otis went home. We celebrated. We cheered. And yes, we cried. Because when you spend 540+ days loving a dog, you build a bond that’s hard to put into words.
But seeing the look on his adopter’s face, the love, the excitement, and the joy of knowing they had found each other?
It made every single day worth it.
Since his adoption, Otis has been spotted out and about enjoying his walks. We got a picture of him showing off his new emotional support couch. We’ve received pictures, sweet updates, and messages about what a wonderful boy he’s been. And suddenly our counting has changed from days Otis is waiting to days he's spent in his forever home!
And honestly? We couldn’t be happier for him and his person.
Some dogs take a little longer to find their people. Some journeys are longer than we ever expected. But Otis reminds us why we keep showing up, keep believing, and keep waiting for that one special person to see what we see.
