Pharmacists with Ralphs and Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions) have officially ratified a new two-year agreement!

From the first press conference in Los Angeles in March, to the candlelight vigil last month, to the threat of a historic Unfair Labor Practices strike, pharmacists showed exactly what happens when they stand together and refuse to back down.

Because of their solidarity and commitment to fighting for the contract they deserve, their new contract includes:

✅A two-year contract aligning pharmacists with pharmacy technicians and grocery clerks for greater bargaining power
✅Wage increases of $5.50 an hour for staff pharmacists and $6.00 an hour for head pharmacists, with all raises coming within 6 months
✅Up to 12 hours of holiday pay based on regularly scheduled hours.

Urgent Update: The ULP Strike is ON PAUSE

Through our collective resilience, strength, and solidarity, grocery pharmacists have received an improved contract offer from Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons & Pavilions.

As a result, the Unfair Labor Practices (ULP) strike is officially ON PAUSE while members review the details and vote.

We are holding informational webinars Friday, September 18 at 9pm and Saturday, September 19 at 7am, where you will have the opportunity to review the improved offer and have your questions answered before casting your vote.

Voting will be online from 9am Saturday, September 19, to 7pm Sunday, September 20.

More information and the links to register for the webinar members with be texted directly to members.

What an Incredible Turnout!

Our Safe Staffing Candlelight Vigil at Vons in Whittier was a powerful display of solidarity!

Grocery pharmacists, patients, and community supporters packed the parking lot to send an unmistakable message to Vons, Albertsons, Pavilions, and Ralphs that understaffing compromises patient safety and we are united to protect our community.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, held a candle, and raised their voice.

We are taking this incredible energy and ULP Strike Ready momentum back to the bargaining table tomorrow.

We are stronger than ever and ready to secure the fair contract and safe staffing levels that our pharmacy teams and patients deserve.

📢Pharmacists Bargaining Update! 📢
For the first time since we authorized an Unfair Labor Practice strike, we met with Albertsons/Vons and Ralphs for two long days filled with intense conversations. After the overwhelming vote, and weeks of being out in front of stores talking to customers about where to transfer their prescriptions in the event of a labor dispute, it’s clear momentum is on our side.

The companies also heard from two patients about their frustration with the lack of adequate pharmacy staffing, and their fierce loyalties to the pharmacists who care for them. They told the companies that if they continue to commit unfair labor practices that are preventing us from getting the contract we – and our patients – deserve, they’ll transfer their prescriptions to another union pharmacy. And they’re not alone.

What’s Next
* We will return to bargaining on August 31st and September 1st. In the meantime, we must keep up the pressure.
* Bargaining committee members and union representatives will be in your stores to talk with you about our next steps and get your feedback.
* We will hold a Zoom meeting on Sunday, August 16th at 7pm.
Stay tuned for our next action in the campaign to get a fair contract.

Last Tuesday on July 28th was our UFCW Local 1428 & UFCW Local 1167’s 24th Annual Charity Golf Tournament! This year we held it at a new location for us which was at Industry Hills Golf Club in The City Of Industry. It was great day for all those who attended and a lot of money was raised that will go towards Scholarships for Our Members or Dependents. Money will also go to our much needed Food Pantry that is available for all of our members as well. If you couldn’t make it this year hopefully we see you at next years event!!! Thank you to all who joined, participated, sponsored, donated and volunteered to make this event the success that it turned out to be!!! Your involvement is truly appreciated!!! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️✊🏼💯💥

Southern California UFCW pharmacists at Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions have overwhelmingly voted to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike.

While this vote does not mean a strike has been called, it sends a clear message that pharmacists are united and prepared to support their Bargaining Committee as the campaign moves forward.

We will keep you posted on next steps.
