At 9:02 pm on this Friday Evening May 22, 2026 OUR UFCW Local 1428 Union Brother Rob O’Connell from Vons 2169 in Glendora clocked out for his very last final time as he enters The Wonderful World Of Retirement!!! Congratulations Rob on reaching this milestone of your life and Thank You from All of us at Local 1428 for being an amazing example of what being a Union Member means! You have been not only an amazing steward in your store but have also been an elected Executive Board Vice President of OUR Union for many years! You have always been there for every member no matter which company they work for during many contract battles and have always been one that many of your coworkers look up to as a Union Leader! We know it’s not goodbye but just see you soon whenever we can catch up with you! We just want to say once again Congratulations on a Career Well Done! Vons was very lucky to have you as one their most dedicated employees and we were lucky to have you as a UFCW Local 1428 Union Member! Happy Retirement Rob you will be missed!!! ✊🏼💯💥

Time to boycott!!!

STAND WITH REI UNION WORKERS: No contract. No sale.

REI Co-op workers have been organizing for the past four years and are STILL fighting for a first contract. Instead of living up to their supposed co-op values, REI has continued to union-bust and delay negotiations.

Skip the anniversary sale happening through May 25th and gear up with local outfitters or buy directly from brands instead.

No sale is worth funding REI’s corporate agenda. ✊

Last night or should I say this morning OUR UFCW Local 1428 Reps after working their regular long day yesterday went home for a few hours before restarting at 11pm last night to spend National Third Shift Workers Night visiting many Night Crews and Overnight Workers! OUR Members were so surprised to see us knocking at the doors to be let in during the late night and early morning hours. We just wanted to Personally Thank ALL OF OUR THIRD SHIFT MEMBERS for all of the hard work they put in every night shift to make sure the stores are ready to go for the shopping public once doors open the next morning! These are the magic elves behind the scenes that truly make it happen! We didn’t make it to every store but will soon be out again to visit the stores we missed. Also we didn’t get pictures at every store as we did get caught up in a lot of conversations about current company conditions and contract issues. Thank you once again to ALL of Our UFCW Local 1428 Overnight Members who truly deserve recognition for the contributions they make towards their companies success!!! ✊🏼💯💥

On Saturday OUR UFCW Local 1428 Staff & Members along with a few from Local 770 volunteered once again at this years 2026 Annual National Association Of Letter Carriers STAMP OUT HUNGER Food Drive. As we usually do we were assigned to cover the post office in Eagle Rock to help unload the trucks of the Letter Carriers as they returned to the station from their work routes where they picked up donated food along the way. Hopefully if you weren’t able to join us you were able to leave a bag of non perishable items to be picked up from your Mail Person. This food will eventually once sorted be distributed to those families in a little need of assistance during these hard times. TOGETHER WE will Stamp Out Hunger as we continue our never ending efforts of Building Better Communities!!! Thank you to All who donated and volunteered their time for such a needed cause. ✊🏼💯💥
