I am hearing from A LOT of Ohio residents in Perry Township, Champaign County, Millersport, Piketon, Scioto Township, Pike County and beyond about the destruction of their land for AI hyperscale data centers.
Residents are rightfully concerned about the secrecy, intimidation tactics, noise, water usage, and water contamination issues. Powerlines are being routed through their communities, and beautiful farmland, trees, and views are being cleared.
These communities do not want this.

I’m hearing the same concern from NC residents: They are tired of having major projects forced on them.
First it was Duke Energy’s coal ash in their communities and now it’s a surge in AI data centers — which Duke itself says is the main driver of their rising electricity projections.
That means more coal and more power demand to run these massive data centers. People deserve transparency and a real voice in what gets built here. We need public input and stronger oversight so this pattern doesn’t keep repeating in NC.

I’ve been hearing a lot from Texas about something we need to discuss: the "Rule of Capture."
In Texas, groundwater law follows the "rule of capture." That means water rights are tied directly to land ownership. For example, the 3,700 acres Google purchased or leased for its upcoming AI data center — "Project Roman" in Deaf Smith County — would also include the right to pump the groundwater beneath it.
This raises serious concerns about a private company controlling a public resource. And Texas isn’t alone. Other states that follow some version of the rule of capture include Maine, Louisiana, and others. This is scary!

It’s happening in state after state and it’s coming in fast- REZONING!
Here’s what people are telling us:
1. “Developers attorney helped write the data center ordinances”
2. “Signed NDA and they rezoned this cornfield into heavy industrial”
3. “City council annexed substantial parcel of land from agricultural to industrial”
4. “Zero impact assessments which are required - it’s an agricultural zone and they rezoned it for commercial, not industrial”
5. “City let a company rezone and amend PUD for data center buildings”

We have hundreds of these. Same playbook.
Agricultural is now Industrial. No studies. No transparency. The residents are the last to know.
This is wrong. Our zoning, our land, and our process deserve better.

Meta is building a $50 billion hyper/scale AI data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana. This will span across thousands of acres, approximately FOUR times the size of Central Park. It was the subject of a major New York Times investigation outlining secret state deals and rapid lobbying.
For months I’ve received emails from residents in this area — and we’re hearing the same story in state after state.
Key concerns: rural farmland being taken over, NDAs silencing discussion, plans to build additional power plants to support AI hyper-scale data centers, and more.
Secret deals have to stop. When local officials move forward without the voices of their constituents, we’re heading in the wrong direction. People deserve transparency.

Residents in New Mexico have been reaching out about Project Jupiter — a planned $165 billion AI hyper-scale data center in Santa Teresa, Doña Ana County.
At build-out, the facility will cover about 1,400 acres. That’s larger than New York City’s Central Park.
Their concerns include environmental justice, water quantity and quality, air pollution, and a lack of due process and transparency throughout the process.
Sound familiar? We’re hearing the same issues state after state.

Pennsylvania has been one of the top states reaching out to me over the past 4 months. Most of the concerns are related to AI hyper scale data centers that are in the proposal and construction phases. I’ve heard from many counties, but I want to talk about HOMER CITY, PA.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is proposing to acquire approximately 2,200 acres of the Homer City Energy Campus in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, to build 39 hyperscale data centers.
They say it will bring jobs but the people are not buying it.

Over the past few months, I’ve heard from residents across Indiana — including Granger, Jefferson, Posey, and Madison counties, just to name a few.
People are sending before-and-after electric bills tied to hyper-scale AI data centers, photos, and raising serious concerns about water and other local impacts.
The major companies operating here include Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta.
This is affecting communities statewide. Now is the time for people to come together and show up.
