NIMBY “Not in My Backyard” is a concern! Residents have real, multiple reasons for not wanting AI data centers nearby — from environmental impact to daily living conditions. If we’re asking communities to host this infrastructure, we should also ask: would decision makers welcome it in their own backyards?

As of today, we’ve received approximately 8,300 emails regarding concerns about the AI data centers. We’ve plotted 5,028 of your concerns on this map so your voices are visible. I created this map to make sure community feedback stays front and center as we review each message. Based on the information submissions we’ve received …here are key statistics from your comments. 7,395 people have spoken up about data centers in their area. We’ve mapped 4,377 concerns so far — construction, proposals, rumors and active sites. It is clear this on people’s minds across the country.

Following the addition of a photo gallery to our website, we received this concerning image from Austin Newsom of Louisa, VA. The photo depicts his tap water. Mr. Newsom’s residence is located directly across from a data center under construction.

On April 27 - less than 30 days ago - I asked all of YOU to share concerns about AI data centers. You delivered.
We started with 30 reports on the map. Your impact since then has been …
1. 3,862 forms submitted by residents via email.
2. 49 States now represented on the map.
3. 2,716 pinned as of May 24th (tonight) Note: We can only plot reports that include location details. Every submission is reviewed carefully.
And the #1 concern continually reported is lack of TRANSPARENCY!
Reoccurring phrases and words included in comments are; silenced, ignored, secretive, back door deals, NDA, not seen and not heard; along with concerns of rising utility bills, sick animals, health concerns and declining property values.
