The Kiwanis Club of Claremont Foundation makes a difference in our community! In the past 5 years, we've awarded $42,000 in academic and career/technical scholarships to CHS and SAHS grads, invested $40,000 in early childhood literacy through our READ ME program, and granted $120,000 to local organizations like Meals on Wheels, Shoes That Fit, and CLASP, our wonderful afterschool support program. Money you helped us raise through See's candy sales, the Summer Concerts, our pancake breakfasts, and our Route 66 auction and party.

CUSD OPENS STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER

Millie Monroy and Rosa Leong, District Liaisons of Youth and Family Services made an excellent presentation to our Club a few weeks ago. They introduced our Club to the new Student Resource Center located at the Oakmont Outdoor (Elementary) School campus. The program provides services to about 200 homeless youth and 20-30 foster students. Yes, Claremont has a growing population of homeless students. In fact, 47% of families enrolled in CUSD are classified as socio-economically disadvantaged. Read on!
