Rothenberg Rooftop School Garden The Rooftop Garden School helps children engage with the natural environment first-hand to realize the importance of preservation and conservation.

The Rothenberg Rooftop School Garden enhances students’ development of critical thinking, science, math and literacy skills through hands-on application of classroom curriculum and increased community involvement. The Garden School will integrate hands-on learning experiences to reinforce concepts within traditional subjects as well as promote nutrition, healthy eating, and sustainability. Integra

ted with math, science, and language arts, the Rooftop Garden Program uses experiential learning opportunities to deepen students’ education. The Rooftop Garden is more than growing things; it's more than the children getting their hands dirty -- it is an innovative model in which academic standards required at each grade level are integrated thoroughly with garden-based lessons. The Rothenberg Rooftop Garden serves as a community gathering place and a point of pride in this historic inner city neighborhood. Lessons in sustainability and container gardening will be taught across generations, helping to advance the community as a whole toward:
