In late 2023, Cornerstone Renter Equity received a City Of Cincinnati Government Safe and Clean Grant, administered by Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, to transform Goose Alley from an overgrown lot into a revitalized garden and farm for residents and youth. Partnering with the Urban Farming Collective (UFC) Food System, Cornerstone also launched "Teach the Grower," an urban agriculture program teaching youth and residents sustainable growing practices and food sovereignty.

Fast forward to 2026: the garden is thriving, employing resident youth gardeners and a certified horticulture resident garden manager, and hosting regular community events. Whether tending fresh produce, caring for animals, or simply sitting in nature, this alley has become a sustainable, positive third space for OTR youth and neighbors alike.

Goose Alley is another example that a cleaner, greener Cincinnati also means a more connected, vibrant one.

When Cincinnati needed a little extra help, our community showed up. Swipe to see the impact.

This month's Don't Dump the 'Nati! event included expanded capacity to help residents dealing with debris from the recent flash flooding—and wow, did Cincinnati deliver.

Together, we collected:
🗑️ 147,000 lbs of landfill waste
🌿 14,000 lbs of landscape debris
🪨 3,000 lbs of rock debris
🛞 300+ tires
💻 2,700 lbs of e-waste
🔩 4,250 lbs of scrap metal
📦 2,000 lbs of recyclables

A huge thank you to every resident who participated, our incredible staff and volunteers, and presenting sponsors Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, the City Of Cincinnati Government Department of Public Services and Office of Environment & Sustainability, and The Gorilla Glue Company. Together, we're not just cleaning up after storms, we're helping to prevent illegal dumping all year long.

Now swipe through to see what we accomplished together. ➡️

Today's Don't Dump The 'Nati! hit different.

After the historic flash flooding across Cincinnati this month, our monthly waste diversion event was quickly expanded to help. Neighbors brought damaged belongings, yard debris, and building material, and KCB staff showed up to meet the need.

Massive thanks to our volunteers who help make it happen 🙌 and a special shout-out to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Zoo Teens for lending their energy today 🦁💚

None of this happens without our presenting sponsors Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, the City Of Cincinnati Government Department of Public Services, and The Gorilla Glue Company. They make it possible for Cincinnatians to drop off yard waste, tires, e-waste, scrap metal, batteries, and more at NO cost. Their support mattered more than ever this month.

The past few weeks have been full of teamwork, and a whole lot of sweat 😅.

Whether it’s cheering on the Reds, touring the Rumpke Recycling Facility, or moving what felt like an endless amount of furniture, equipment and supplies into our new headquarters in the historic Harry Hake Building in Walnut Hills, it's been a very active summer!

Every team-building event and every box we’ve lifted has made us a stronger team, ready to increase our impact and do even more for the Cincinnati neighborhoods we love. 💚
