The final westward extension of Wasson Way (Phase 7) is moving forward, with construction expected to begin later this year!

Cincinnati DOTE was awarded this funding through OKI Regional Council of Governments in 2020 in partnership with the CROWN Cincinnati Capital Campaign. The project will extend Wasson Way Project further into Avondale, connecting Blair Ct to the intersection of MLK Dr and Reading Rd.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Tri-State Trails has contributed $3.3 million in CROWN funds to the City Of Cincinnati, leveraging more than $11.7 million in federal and state grants since 2019 to complete Wasson Way.

We’re excited to see this transformational trail continue to connect neighborhoods and expand safe, accessible transportation and recreation options across Cincinnati.

Here's when the seventh – and final phase – of Wasson Way will be completed.

For 2026, we’re excited to collaborate with Jim Tucker Studio. Jim’s playful, people-centered illustrations bring the energy of the Tour de CROWN to life with a cast of joyful characters inspired by movement, connection, and the vibrant communities that make our region special.

They are working hard every single day to build a healthier, more connected Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, and they want you to be part of it.

Thank you to everyone who tabled, shared resources, brought energy, handed out stickers and smiles, answered questions, brewed coffee, baked pastries, advocated for safer communities, and helped people imagine what’s possible.

What a beautiful morning.

Breakfast on the Bridge reminded us that Greater Cincinnati is absolutely a bike city. A walking city. A transit city. A trail city. Most importantly, a city that shows up for each other.

Hundreds of people showed up on the Purple People Bridge this morning to celebrate National Bike to Work Day and to share a vision for a more connected region. Despite detours and bridge closures, people arrived by bicycle, on foot, by bus, skateboard, and with friends and coworkers beside them. The energy on the bridge was joyful, hopeful, and powerful.

Today was about believing in a future where everyone has safe places to walk, bike, roll, and move through their community with dignity and freedom. A future where trails and bikeways connect neighborhoods, strengthen local businesses, improve health, and bring people together across state lines and backgrounds.

To everyone who joined us: thank you. Thank you for showing up for this vision and for each other.

Huge thanks to our presenting sponsor, Cincinnati Metro, and to our Explorer Sponsors: Reser Bicycle Outfitters, City of Newport, KY, Northern Kentucky Port Authority, TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky), Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission, Cincinnati Public Radio, Kentucky Bike Lawyer - Chris Carville, and Ohio Bike Lawyer - Steve Magas.

Special thanks to Tri-State Trails volunteers, Trailhead Coffee for the coffee, and North South Baking Co for the pastries that fueled the morning. And thank you to Jack Reynolds for capturing the spirit of the morning through these photographs.

Thank you, Greater Cincinnati. We’ll see you on the trail.
