We’re excited to welcome the newest member of the Green Umbrella Team: Jamiya Barnett, our Local Government Program Manager.

Jamiya is a community-focused professional passionate about advancing climate equity, sustainability, and inclusive engagement across Greater Cincinnati. Her work sits at the intersection of environmental justice, community programming, and strategic partnerships, with a focus on ensuring that climate solutions are accessible and impactful for all communities. She’ll be working with our member governments as part of the 25 Communities Project, alongside partners for the ThriveTogether Regional Sustainability Playbook, and managing the Climate Action Fellowship program.

Join Green Umbrella’s Greenspace Alliance, CORA - Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance, and The Hillside Trust for a Meet A Greenspace Hike exploring Goltra Preserve — a Cincinnati Mountain Biking Trail and nature preserve!

The ~2-mile, out-and-back hike will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 3:00 – 4:30 PM. We will meet at the trailhead at the end of Brokaw Avenue (2394 Brokaw Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225).

This event is a part of Cincinnati's inaugural Climate Week and is kid-friendly! We invite families with young ones to attend and explore nature together.

Meet our 2026 Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit Keynote Speaker!

Dr. Rebecca Carter brings a global perspective to the Midwest’s most pressing sustainability challenges. She is a leading voice in advancing transformative climate adaptation to build resilient economies and communities, particularly as regions face more extreme weather and shifting environmental conditions.

Rebecca is the former Director of Climate Adaptation and Resilience at the World Resources Institute (WRI) and previously served as a USAID Foreign Service Environment Officer in Indonesia, Uganda, and the Philippines. With a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Arizona, she brings a deeply human-centered lens to sustainability, helping leaders move beyond incremental change toward more enduring systems that allow communities to adapt and thrive.

Garden of Joy Culinary Academy is a new Green Umbrella Member and partner to the Food Policy Council. Dominic Bley, Garden of Joy’s Director of Culinary Arts Education, serves as a Council Member for the FPC and is also contributing to our Nutrition Education Task Force, working to create a nutrition curriculum that can be shared across schools in our region.

Garden of Joy Culinary Academy is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit that provides free culinary, gardening, life skills, and restorative programming for students in grades 7-12 across Greater Cincinnati. Much of the programming takes place directly after school, providing a safe, supportive third place for kids to learn and grow.
