MARCH AND RALLY FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING!

Join neighbors and community partners on October 21st as we rally and march for immediate action toward housing for all!

In Cincinnati, more than one-third of our households cannot afford our current homes.

At our City’s current pace of affordable housing development, it will take hundreds of years to ensure everyone has a place to live.

At the same time, the federal government is aggressively cutting funding for our permanent housing responses to homelessness and pushing to criminalize our people on the street.

We’re excited to share that we have received a grant from Norfolk Southern through its Thriving Communities Grant Program!

This funding supports Permanent Supportive Housing programming at Jimmy Heath House and Gloria’s Place, covering staffing and program costs to ensure the continued delivery of effective, evidence-based services that help residents address immediate needs and maintain housing stability.

Members of the New Republic stepped in to support Over-the-Rhine Community Housing for Walk Our Blocks, where we represented two of our OTRCH projects: Mid Line and Pleasant House.

Mid Line will bring 57 affordable apartments to the Vine street corridor, pairing new construction with the rehabilitation of a mid-19th-century building. Pleasant House will create 25 new permanent supportive housing units on Pleasant Street in Over-the-Rhine.

We’re grateful to partner with Over-the-Rhine Community Housing and the important work they do to create and preserve affordable housing in our community. We’re looking forward to seeing both of these projects come out of the ground!

Important News! Time to March!

We planned on releasing the flyer below today, but we didn’t expect the timing to be this perfect.

It was just announced that a federal appeals court has granted HUD’s request for a temporary stay on a lower court’s ruling. This decision temporarily pauses the order that struck down the 2026 Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

In plain language: while this legal battle continues, HUD is cleared to reissue its 2026 funding guidelines—harmful changes and all.

If fully implemented, these changes will:

•Trade stable, permanent housing for expensive temporary housing, causing a devastating net loss of homes.

•Replace compassionate, proven interventions with aggressive, forced compliance and increased policing.

•Push an estimated 100,000 people across the country back into homelessness.

While HUD’s next move is uncertain, ours is clear. We will do everything in our power to protect life-sustaining programming for Cincinnati and Hamilton County. We demand an immediate, permanent end to this attack on people who have experienced homelessness in the past, and on people who are without homes today.

It is the perfect time to march and rally our collective strength!

🏠 New Life Furniture Bank has spent 20 years helping neighbors turn empty houses into homes across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton. Through our partnership, NLFB provides furniture to help OTRCH residents build stability and make their homes their own.

🔨 Charles Addei has spent more than 30 years caring for OTRCH properties. From restoration to reconstruction, Charles' work reflects a deep understanding of our mission and belief that caring for a home is inseparable from caring for the person who calls it home.

After 15 years of dedicated service to Over-the-Rhine Community Housing, Bobby Taylor is retiring as Assistant Property Manager! Bobby has been an important part of our team and our work to provide safe, stable housing for our neighbors. We’re grateful for the care and commitment he has shared with residents and colleagues over the years.

Today, we celebrated Bobby with a retirement lunch at our Service Center, featuring Eli’s Barbeque and Tanya’s famous baked beans. Staff gathered to share heartfelt memories and stories from Bobby’s time with OTRCH.

Thank you, Bobby, for all you’ve contributed to our Beloved Community. We wish you all the best in retirement! 🥳
