Today's Mentor Spotlight is Wendal!

Wendal joined our program in 2024 and has already impacted more than 50 students through career-connected mentorship. Currently paired with a 6th grade class at Holmes Middle School (Covington Independent Public Schools), Wendal is helping students explore the world of artificial intelligence, technology, and data-driven decision making while introducing them to exciting career opportunities in the growing tech industry.

Recently, mentors and students completed an entrepreneurship project in which each group developed its own product, including its purpose, cost, and design. Students then presented their ideas to the class, building their creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills along the way.

We are grateful for Wendal's dedication to inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders! 🧡

Today's Mentor Spotlight is The Shepherd Chemical Company!

Shepherd Chemical joined AAC in 2023 as the inaugural mentor team to launch our program in 5th grade at Sharpsburg Elementary School in Norwood City School District . This year, they expanded their impact with an additional mentor team, The Shepherd Color Company, which now mentors a 5th grade class at Brookwood Elementary School in Hamilton City School District. Together, the two teams have impacted more than 100 students through mentorship and career-connected learning experiences.

Most recently, Shepherd Chemical mentors welcomed their students to their Norwood chemical plant for a behind-the-scenes look at the industry. Students toured the facility, learned about careers in manufacturing, and participated in hands-on stations that focused on chemistry, production, maintenance, and forklift operations. They also used formulas to create the correct color as a chemist, worked together to identify and assemble metal parts, and even participated in a motorized mini forklift race.

Today's Mentor Team Spotlight is Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center!

CCHMC joined our program in 2015 and has impacted more than 500 students in their time involved. Currently, they mentor nine classrooms across four schools serving students in grades K–5. Through monthly classroom visits, hands-on activities, and field trips, CCHMC mentors help introduce students to the wide range of careers available in healthcare while inspiring them to dream big about their futures.

Most recently, mentors from CCHMC's Operations Department welcomed their 5th grade class from Rockdale Academy to their workplace for a hands-on healthcare career exploration experience. Students created a video in Seacrest Studios for patients to view in their hospital rooms, learned how to use a stethoscope, practiced placing oxygen masks on mannequin babies, and toured the ambulance garage to see the inside of emergency response vehicles. Experiences like these help students gain a deeper understanding of the many career opportunities available within the healthcare field. 🩺

Yesterday, we brought together 600+ mentors, educators, and community partners from more than 80 organizations for our annual Celebration Breakfast presented by Citi to celebrate another incredible year of mentorship through our program!

During the morning, we had the opportunity to recognized partners who continue going above and beyond for students across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. To our award winners and finalists — congratulations and thank you! Whether through monthly classroom visits, career-connected field trips, hands-on activities, or simply showing up consistently for students, your impact is felt in countless ways every single day.

The 2025-2026 school year was one for the books! To everyone who attended, supported, mentored, partnered, and believed in our mission — THANK YOU! We are beyond grateful to celebrate alongside people who care so deeply about our community.

Last Friday, we partnered with Superintendent Deborah Houser of Middletown City Schools to host a Mentor Appreciation Coffee honoring our Adopt A Class mentors in Middletown!

The morning was spent networking, celebrating meaningful mentorship connections, and recognizing the incredible impact our mentors continue to make in the lives of students throughout 2025-2026 school year. Students also showcased several careers through a fun and interactive fashion show, highlighting the many opportunities available to them in the future.

Thank you to the mentors, educators, and community partners of Middletown for your continued commitment to supporting and inspiring students. We’re so grateful for all that you do! ☕🧡
