The DCBA is dedicated to enhancing & maintaining Downtown Chico as a vital, thriving retail & cultural center.

Formed as a Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Area (DPBIA), the City of Chico assesses an additional fee on business licenses granted within the district boundaries (per Chico Municipal Code 3.34.010 – 3.34.140). Those funds are distributed to the DCBA, a nonprofit organization that has contracted with the City of Chico and is mandated to use the funds for one or more of the following purp

oses (CDC 3.34.090):
1.The acquisition, construction or maintenance of parking facilities for the benefit of the area;
2.Decoration of any public place in the area;
3.Promotion of public events which are to take place on or in public places in the area;
4.Furnishing of music in any public place in the area;
5.The general promotion of retail trade activities in the area

So, how does Taste of Downtown work? 🍴

One ticket gets you 8 tastings from more than 25 participating downtown businesses. You choose your route, trade your tasting tickets for featured bites, sips and sweets, enjoy live music along the way, and finish the afternoon with a free concert in City Plaza. 🎶

Ever wanted to conduct an orchestra? This Thursday, you can! 🎶

North State Symphony is bringing an ensemble of approximately 14 musicians to Chico City Plaza, including student musicians from the Butte Youth Orchestra, for a special evening of music and community participation.

Starting at 7 pm, Conduct Us! will invite audience members of all ages to step up and lead the ensemble. No conducting experience required, just a willingness to give it a try!

Because this is an interactive experience rather than a traditional concert, timing will be flexible and is expected to continue until around 8 or 8:30 pm. You can also stop by North State Symphony’s information table to learn more.

We’re kicking off Taste of Downtown promotions with a little taste test Argus Bar & Patio !

Their new food menu brings Argus’s signature balance of quality and fun to the table. We stopped by for the truffle fries and flatbread bites, and yes, we’re still thinking about those fries. 🍟

Friday Night Concert update 🎶

Due to the weather, tonight’s Friday Night Concert featuring Hill Kidz has been canceled.

We’re bummed to miss a night in the plaza, but the safety and comfort of our community, bands, vendors, volunteers, and crew comes first.

A reschedule date for is TBD, and we’ll share updates as soon as we have more information.

We also want to take a moment to say thank you. Friday Night Concerts would not be possible without our sponsors, the bands, our small but mighty DCBA crew, volunteers, and the community members who keep showing up to support free live music in Downtown Chico. There are only three more weeks left in the Friday Night Concert season, and we hope you’ll join us as we close out the summer with:

Come sweat it out with us on the dance floor. 💃🕺

We’re kicking off this month’s Wedding & Events Expo at the Thursday Night Market with free wedding dance classes led by local dancer and choreographer Ray Hayes Dance.

And no, you do not need to be planning a wedding to join.

Bring a partner, a friend, a family member, your wedding party, or just yourself. No experience needed. No partner required for any class. Two left feet are absolutely welcome.

Free Wedding Dance Classes
Thursdays, August 6, 13 + 20
Main + 3rd Street, near Woodstock’s Pizza

Class times:
6:30 pm - Intro to Wedding Dance
7:15 pm - Wedding Party Dance, flash mob style
8:00 pm - Intro to Dips & Tricks

Each class is about 30 minutes and open to the public.

We know it’s hot, but honestly? That just makes it more of a community bonding experience. Come hydrate, laugh, move, learn something new, and make a Thursday night memory downtown.
