The Beloved Community is a global vision envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a society where all people share in the wealth of the earth creating authentic community. It is a vision achieved through nonviolent resistance of the injustices that divide us and proactive commitment to right relationship with each other. It means that no one is left out of creating the community, so we go out of our way to center the people who our systems often exclude. For us at New Life Centers, that means especially centering the leadership and voices of young people in our communities.

Learning to lead starts with learning to support one another. On September 30, young people from our YEP program took part in a soccer tournament, building friendships and enjoying the game together. 🔥 🥅

By working as a team, they put the social and leadership skills they develop through YEP into practice. At New Life Centers, these experiences give young people space to connect, grow, and carry what they learn beyond the field. ⚽💚

Aprender a liderar comienza por apoyarse mutuamente. El 30 de septiembre, jóvenes de nuestro programa YEP participaron en un torneo de fútbol de un día, donde fortalecieron su confianza y sus lazos de amistad mientras disfrutaron del juego.

El trabajo en equipo les permitió poner en práctica las habilidades sociales y de liderazgo que desarrollan en YEP. En New Life Centers, estas experiencias les brindan un espacio para compartir, crecer y aplicar lo aprendido más allá de la cancha.

When families have the essentials they need, their budgets can stretch a little further. This week, we welcomed more than 80 people from Little Village to our Community Closet event, where they found clothing, shoes, and accessories.👕👗

Thank you to our volunteers and everyone who donated for making this possible. Your generosity helped families save on everyday essentials and reminded our neighbors how much they matter to us at New Life Centers. 💚

Cuando las familias cuentan con lo esencial, su presupuesto rinde un poco más. Esta semana recibimos a más de 80 personas de La Villita en nuestro evento de Community Closet, donde encontraron ropa, zapatos, entre otros accesorios de vestir.

The Chicago Marathon is coming up on October 11, and a few young people from our Running Forward program have been putting in the work. With every run, they’re building endurance, learning to pace themselves, and growing more confident over longer distances. 🏅

We’ve seen them keep going when the miles get tough and grow stronger with each practice. We’re proud of how far they’ve come, and we can’t wait to cheer them on race day. 🏃

We remain deeply committed to our mission: connecting young people and their families with Christ and community, and creating the Beloved Community together.

Yesterday, more than 35 young people from different neighborhoods came together for an evening of basketball organized by our Resilience Services and Street Outreach teams.

This is part of how we live out that mission: making space for young people to play, meet someone new, and feel welcome. 🏀

Seguimos firmes en nuestra misión de conectar a los jóvenes y sus familias con Cristo y con la comunidad, hasta lograr juntos una Comunidad Amada.

Ayer, más de 35 jóvenes de distintos vecindarios compartieron una tarde de baloncesto organizada por nuestros equipos de Servicios de Resiliencia y Alcance Comunitario.

Actividades como estas, forman parte de cómo vivimos esa misión: creando espacios para que los jóvenes jueguen, conozcan gente nueva y se sientan bienvenidos. 🏀

After being separated from her family, Beatriz was reunited with her mother. Looking back on what she had been through, she came to see God’s presence in her life: “God, you’re real.”

Today, Beatriz brings that hope to her work with young people at New Life Centers. She’s someone they can turn to when they need support.

A strong start for our new cohort! 🙌🏽

The first session of New Life Centers’ Abundant Life Entrepreneurship Program brought Chicago entrepreneurs and experienced mentors together to explore one of the most important elements of a successful business: a strong financial model.

While managing finances can feel challenging, understanding the numbers equips entrepreneurs to make informed decisions, plan for growth, access capital, and build sustainable businesses.💼📊

We’re grateful to Patti Chandler, who traveled from Baltimore to share her knowledge and experience with the cohort, and to our Abundant Life mentors for contributing their time, insight, and thoughtful guidance throughout the session. 💡🤝

This first session set the stage for meaningful mentorship, stronger business decisions, and continued growth. We look forward to seeing these entrepreneurs develop their ideas and move their businesses forward.
