Hands down, one of the students’ favorite moments from our City Hall trip was learning about Chicago’s famous “Splatatouille” pothole and the local story behind it! 🐀✨📸

Students also had the chance to hold the snowplow banner for “Pope Frío XIV,” one of the winning names from Chicago’s annual “You Name a Snowplow” contest. Each year, the Department of Streets and Sanitation invites families and students to submit creative, Chicago-inspired names for the city’s snowplows, making winter a little more fun for everyone.

Serving People with a Mission recently brought our latest leadership cohort to Chicago City Hall for an immersive look into civic engagement. By meeting directly with city officials, our servant leaders gained firsthand insight into the mechanics of local government. We emphasize the strategic importance of political power and principled networking, ensuring our leaders are equipped to navigate the political landscape to better serve their communities.

Serving People with a Mission is officially headquartered in Lawndale, a strategically and centrally located neighborhood within the city of Chicago that allows us to effectively serve communities across the greater Chicagoland area. SPM is a collective of servant leaders from across Chicagoland, united by a shared commitment to advancing equity, leadership, civic access, and generational progress. 🙌✨

Through our Service arm, SPM creates meaningful impact by engaging community members through educational initiatives such as the Hand-n-Hand Leadership Program and the Young Executive Coaching Program. We advance civic access by connecting youth and families to decision-making spaces, public resources, and leadership opportunities that strengthen community voice and representation. In addition, we lead environmental and resource-driven efforts including our Professional Clothing Donations Drive promoting sustainability, circularity, dignity, and equitable community redistribution.

‼️As we continue to expand our work in Lawndale, we are actively seeking new partners in the area who believe in servant leadership, civic empowerment, and long-term community transformation.‼️ Together, we can serve people with a mission and build lasting change.
