Kids Above All Kids Above All builds better lives for children & families impacted by poverty, violence & injustice.

Kids Above All is a Chicago-based, 501c3 non-profit organization that places the safety, well-being and education of children and families above everything else. We do this for kids and families in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake counties experiencing poverty, violence and injustice through counseling, early childhood education, foster care and adoption and housing for homeless teenagers and young adults. Our vision is that young people who have experienced trauma can become independent adults who lead meaningful, productive lives.

Through Kids Above All's Trauma-Informed Counseling programs, children and families are able to obtain the clinical support they need to learn, heal, and grow.

Our Becoming Me program empowers youth by providing them with the resources they need to find a deeper sense of self, our Camp Sheilah program builds a community of support for youth who have lost a loved one to homicide, and our Counseling Solutions program provides therapy to those experiencing mental health challenges and trauma.

Kids Above All's Group Homes are safe, supportive environments for young people who have suffered abuse and neglect to obtain the clinical support and community they need to grow and heal.

Kids Above All is proud to announce our 2026 Celebration Dinner Emcee: CBS News Chicago's Shardaa Gray!

A native of Chicago’s South Suburbs, Shardaa has worked in newsrooms across the Midwest, including KOKH in Oklahoma City, KSN in Wichita, and WJFW in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. She returned to the city she loves, Chicago, in 2021, as a Multimedia Reporter for CBS 2.

Shardaa is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists, which is committed to fairness in the workplace, as well as expanding opportunities and the number of Black journalists around the country.

She’s a graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School and earned her B.A. in journalism from Columbia College in Chicago. When she’s not reporting the news, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and exploring the city.

We are thrilled to welcome Shardaa to Team Kids Above All and can’t wait for her to be part of our upcoming Celebration Dinner on Wednesday, October 14, at the Four Seasons Chicago.

Kids Above All is proud to announce our 2026 Client of the Year: Aldjia Midoun!

Less than two years ago, Aldjia lived her dream, moving to the United States from Algeria with her husband. In addition to leaving her entire family on the other side of the world, this decision presented many challenges—learning a new language, understanding a new culture, and building a new home.

Soon after they arrived, Aldjia found out she was expecting. Aldija was excited to add another member to the family, but she also felt scared and alone. She knew she needed help to learn about what to expect during the final months of her pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the first few months postpartum.

Aldjia found Kids Above All’s Doula Program in Kane County, and with the help of her doula, Brandy, she had the support she needed as she welcomed her son into the world.

Join us at our 2026 Celebration Dinner at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14 at the Four Seasons Chicago as we share Aldjia’s story of courage and perseverance.
