Utilizing synergistic strength for unified growth and revolutionizing our communities. The Oak Park chapter, Theta Chi Sigma (TCS), answered the call by being chartered on Saturday, March 6, 1999 in Oak Park, IL by 30 professional women. This eclectic pool of women with an array
of talents set community service goals to better serve the westside of Chicago and the surrounding communities and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. In only a short time, TCS has developed civic, social, educational and economic programs for the community with an emphasis on the positive development of the youth. On Saturday, April 3, 1999 Theta Chi Sigma established a Rhoer Club, the youth affiliates of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Theta Chi Sigma's first Induction Class consisted of four dedicated women and they were brought into the Sisterhood on Saturday, May 15, 1999. This was followed by another milestone in 2001, the establishing of the Lamp of Learning Foundation, the Chapter's 501c(3) organization. On Saturday, February 23, 2002 a phenomenal group of ten women were brought together for the establishment of the chapter's Philo Club.
