Meet Mamtamtambe A.

Mamtamtambe is a 10-year old singer in our Englewood Neighborhood Choir. Among the 179 songs on her personal playlist are two of her favorite songs to sing with her friends in Englewood, "Glory" by John Legend & Common and "Something Inside," a protest anthem by Labi Siffre. She plans to sing those songs, and so many others, with the Englewood Neighborhood Choir until she's too old to sing.

When we sing together, we stand together. Get to know more about Mamtamtambe and other singer stories: https://www.unitingvoiceschicago.org/landing/our-singers

Thank you for supporting Canto Latino: Salsa en mi barrio this weekend! It was a beautiful celebration of the city’s proud Latin American heritage through song, story and dance. Our singers loved embarking on a musical exploration of the genre of salsa and performing songs by icons like Celia Cruz and Oscar D’Leon.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

We’re celebrating with “Amor Eterno,” one of the signature songs of Mexican recording artist Juan Gabriel, whose live performance of this song is preserved in the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry. Our Gage Park Neighborhood Choir performed the song at Paint the Town Red this year.
