Weather PSA: The 'omega block' that has produced dry and slightly cool weather for us is breaking down , so a more typical summer pattern of weather is ahead . Today ( Thursday) will be sunny and dry with the high temp in the mid 80s. Tonight , we get the warm, humid push from the southwest. Friday will have a chance of isolated showers /thunder showers during the day , with a greater chance later Friday night through the wee hours of Saturday . Our dew point, which is a good measure of humidity , will increase 15 -20 degrees from the high 40s to the high 60s . This measure is also a good proxy for what the overnight low temp will be , so we'll be more seasonable , with no jacket required for early risers . Saturday should clear out , with only an isolated chance of showers . Sunday will be a bit 'cooler', but still warm compared to what we've felt . Longer term , we have our first 5 day + stretch of 80 degree plus temps , with the ever-present daily chance of showers for next week . Summer's here ..

Weather PSA: We're in the same weather pattern that's brought us dry, bright and cool - to- warm temps until the middle of the week . NWS did sneak the possibility of 'sprinkles' in overnight tonight ( Sunday) and Monday , but watering will still be a good idea . Later in the week, southerly winds return . That will bring very warm and noticeably more humid air into the area ,and will switch the 'Lake A/C' off . That also brings the chance of thundershowers and thunderstorms back into play . Thunderstorms are good and bad. The good is that they're the primary source of rainwater during our summer months . No thunderstorms means dry and drought . The bad - they can bring weather we don't want - you can't have a tornado without a thunderstorm . For now , let's enjoy the silence ...

Weather PSA: Thanks to a 'blocking pattern' , our run of nearly perfect late Spring weather will continue through the weekend and next week . 'Nearly perfect' , because the plants and lawns aren't liking the lack of any rain that comes with this . If you're a gardener or plant parent , get the watering can ready . Today ( Thursday) , a slight cool down for us thanks to the Lake , we'll get close to 70 degrees . Sunny . Ditto for Friday , Saturday and Sunday , with a bit warmer temps , lots of the year's strongest sun , and no rain . This pattern is also keeping any severe weather away , which is always a bonus in June and through mid -July . The only weather advisory is a swimming alert for Lake Michigan thanks to the northerly breezes . The lake temps are improving to 'wadeable' , but total body immersion is still for the brave :) .. Grab the sunscreen and water and head outside . It doesn't get much better than this ..

Weather PSA: Appropriate weather for the final week of May , also the last week of meteorological Spring . For today ( Sunday , 5/24) , the morning rain will push out with clear skies and seasonably warm ( 70s) temps . Memorial Day Monday , sunny and even warmer - close to 80 degrees for us . Tuesday , even warmer and still dry. We start to gradually cool back to normal temps mid-week - 'normal' is now the high 70s for highs , and staying basically dry . We will be a bit 'cooler' for next weekend , but the Lake is warming up, so cool doesn't mean chilly 40s or 50s any more , and the Solar energy is on a high plateau . It's not 'Deep Summer' yet , but a decent start . Enjoy !!!

Weather PSA: It wasn't until last weekend that "Memorial Day Weekend" appeared in my mental calendar , but here we are . The 'first summer holiday' is sometimes summer , sometimes cool spring , especially in years when we get 'June-u-ary'. This year , in between . We won't have deep summer Dog Day heat and muggy , but we be won't have cloudy and chilly either . Today ( Thursday) , closest to cloudy and chilly , but we will hit the 60s . Chance of light showers overnight . Saturday , a bit warmer, partly cloudy , dry . Sunday , a bit warmer and dry . Memorial Day Monday will be the pick day with temps in the 70s and mostly sunny . Cool weather fans should enjoy it while it lasts - next week will be more summer-like with the temps and humidity for an extended run ..

Weather PSA: 5/18 , 10:40 AM ... You have about 30-45 minutes of 'dry time' remaining until some Stormy Monday weather passes through . So far , no Severe Thunderstorm warnings for us , but that doesn't mean it won't suck to get caught in a downpour or a vanilla thunderstorm. Should be around until 1 - 1:30 PM, then we'll dry out . The severe stuff is currently targeting the South 'burbs ( as usual), but that could change , so stay dry , stay aware ..

Weather PSA: It's been a while since we've had a 75 degree temp and a 65 degree dew point before 10 AM - that's late Spring/Summer weather , and that's what we have today ( Sunday) through Tuesday to start the week . Sunday will be dry , partly to mostly cloudy , a bit humid, with temps into the 80s. We might get a bit of a cooling breeze from the Lake later in the day . Monday , still very warm and muggy , with a chance of storms later in the afternoon/evening .A weather watch-out period . Tuesday , same for a bit , but we have an approaching cold front . Front will pass Tuesday evening/night, which will bring cooler than average temps and lower humidity for mid-week. Stay cool and dry !

Weather PSA: Today (5/14) , the chill that's been hanging around like an annoying guest will be hitting the door . We're getting a late Spring /early Summer run of weather for about the next week . That means warmer and more humid weather from the S/SW will be passing through . Today , we'll hit the 60s for highs - a good start - and dry . Tomorrow , a bit warmer with temps well into the 70s . Saturday and Sunday keep the warmup going , when we'll feel the 80s . With the more humid air and jet stream movements , we get the daily 'chance of thunderstorms' , but the severe possibilities don't surface until Monday . So , decent late Spring weather for a few days , minus the fleece and hoodies . Enjoy !!!

Weather PSA: Happy Mother's Day !! The weather will be typical mid-Spring temps , a bit below the average , which is now a daily high temp of 68 degrees , but plenty of warm sunshine . Monday will be be the same , bright and maybe a little cool . Tuesday is 'cold front day' .We'll get warmer , stronger winds from the southwest ahead of the front , then a few thundershowers with the frontal page later in the day . Not really 'cold' behind the front , just more sunshine . Longer term forecasts from credible sources suggest that the last half of May will have a transition to a warmer Spring pattern . That means temps closer to or in the 80s, and a bit more humidity . That's historically on schedule . For those awaiting 'summer' , patience .. it's coming :)

Weather PSA: A bit behind on everything at the end of this week, so let's get the weekend weather outlook out there - it's a decent one .

For the remainder of Thursday , we should be dry . The quick pop up has passed through . Still Cool tonight , and Friday will be much like today - partly to mostly cloudy and temps a bit below average . The winds will shift from the southwest early Saturday AM. This will bring the pick day of the weekend , and one of the better ones we're had this year . Sunny , dry , high about 75 . It will cloud up later Saturday night , so early Sunday AM could have a few showers . It will clear out - Sunday won't be as warm as Saturday - not quite warm enough for Al Fresco Mother's Day activities here . Enjoy !!
