The Asia Minor and Pontos Hellenic Research Center had the distinct honor of welcoming His Excellency Antonis Alexandridis, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the United States, during a special visit to the Center this week. Ambassador Alexandridis was accompanied by Mr. Emmanuel Koubarakis, Consul General of Greece in Chicago and Ms. Georgia Tasiopoulou, Consul of Greece in Chicago.

During this significant visit, the Center highlighted its ongoing commitment to continuing the vision of Mr. George Mavropoulos, the late founder of the Center, whose dedication established the organization as a distinctive institution in North America.

Ambassador Alexandridis toured the Center’s facilities, met with members of the board, and learned about the Center’s current projects. Among the topics discussed at length was the production of the documentary, Lethal Nationalism: Genocide of the Greeks 1913-1923, as well as initiatives to promote the Center’s work in Washington D.C., and internationally.

While reviewing the Center’s publications and discussing future projects, Ambassador Alexandridis expressed his appreciation for the Center’s academic and educational efforts, and welcomed opportunities for future collaboration in Washington, D.C.

This visit marks an important moment for the Asia Minor and Pontos Hellenic Research Center.
