Congratulations to the Chicago Yacht Club team who competed in the Annapolis Yacht Club Racing 3-2-1 Invitational!

Adam Schaefer, Mary Duncan, Ray Groble IV, Lauren Holderman, Christian Prendergast, and Dominic Sacchetti represented C*C in this elite multi-format regatta, competing in 3v3 team racing, 2v2 team racing, and match racing against eight world-class yacht clubs.

C*CF’s Competition Fund is proud to support sailors like these as they compete at the highest levels and inspire the next generation of Chicago sailors.

The Atkinson mentor program kicked off Wednesday night at Monroe Station!

Twenty-two high school students from more than ten partner programs across Chicago are teaming up with mentors this fall. Every one of them came up through C*CF programs and applied for a spot. A sailing challenge, leadership, college readiness, and big conversations about what comes next are all ahead.

We couldn’t be more excited to see where this group goes!

We are honored to share that Girls Inc. of Chicago has named C*CF their 2026 Community Partner of the Year. 💙

An introductory week of sailing has turned into something much bigger. Over the past year and a half, Girls Inc. students have sailed, taken swim lessons, voyaged with Lead HER Ship, joined the Atkinson Leadership Program STEM workshops, and received college application tutoring.

So grateful to Girls Inc. of Chicago for this wonderful partnership.

Summer might be over, but that is not stopping our sailors! The Atkinson Leadership Program is continuing into the fall.

This past summer, Intrinsic High School students have been out on the water Wednesday evenings through this inaugural program, funded by the Dr. Arthur J. Atkinson Family Foundation — learning to steer, trim sails, and work toward racing, with STEAM education and career readiness woven in along the way.

Congratulations to Peter Holz and Windy City Racing on winning the 2026 C*C Fall Match Race this weekend, taking home both the Sterling Morton Trophy and the Richardson Trophy! 🏆

It has been a strong summer of racing for Peter and the team — finishing 5th at the Chicago Grand Slam, a World Match Racing Tour Grade 2 event against a strong international field, and 4th at the Oakcliff International.

Peter and Windy City Racing are recipients of C*CF’s Competition Fund, which backs competitive sailors from the Chicago area as they pursue high-level racing. We are proud that they continue to inspire the next generation of competitive sailors in Chicago.

Sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, water trampoline — Adventure Boating Camp at Belmont Station introduces kids to all types of water activities and helps them get truly comfortable on Lake Michigan. And have a lot of fun doing it! We had a great week with Union League Boys and Girls Club Barretto earlier this summer!

Nothing teaches teamwork quite like sailing a 33’ boat! It takes several people to raise the sails, trim them, and keep an eye on what is ahead so the skipper can adjust course. Kids learn fast that everyone on board has a role — and the boat moves better when they all do their part. 💙
