CHILDREN'S ENDOWMENT FUND
The Children’s Endowment Fund (“CEF”) was originally founded in 2002 by the Justinian Society of Lawyers as a charitable and benevolent arm of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, and as of August 14, 2012, the CEF, is now a subdivision of the Justinian Society of Lawyers’ Endowment Fund. The mission of the CEF is to assist and aid disadvantaged or disabled children, without regard to ethnicity, race or religion. A child, as defined for the purpose of the CEF, is any individual 18 years old or younger.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Justinian Society of Lawyers Endowment Fund provides annual scholarships to students attending area law schools. Last year, we afforded 14 scholarships totaling in excess of $40,000 (including the law schools matching funds).

We are primarily concerned with providing awards to qualified applicants demonstrating need, we require some assurance that the individuals who are awarded scholarships will complete their legal studies.

On March 17, our CEF Chairman Frank A. Sommario and CEF Treasurer Bruno Marasso (also 1st Vice President of the Justinian Society of Lawyers of Illinois Group) presented a $10,000 grant to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and a $10,000 grant to CASA Kane County. During our Centennial Anniversary year, our 100 x $1000 campaign raised additional money for the CEF and our Scholarship Fund, and grants awarded at last week’s event are the largest to date. Join us today at the 69th annual Columbus Day parade! Bring your family and fellow Justinians to ride the float down State Street in the PREMIER part of the Columbus Day Parade as part of our Centennial Celebration!

The Justinian float is Number 18 in the parade and will leave from the junction of Wacker Drive and Dearborn Street. You need to arrive early if you want to be part of the float. (Note the roads will be closed by 11.30am.)

The parade kick-off is 1:00 PM and will be broadcast from State Street on WLS-ABC7 for one hour with hosts Val Warner, Ryan Chiaverini, and Anthony Rago.

The post-parade celebration will take place at Casa Italia immediately following the parade. Details can be found at www.jccia.com. We can’t wait to see you there!
