Valle Crucis is and has been a beloved center for their community for generations.
"For more than 180 years, this valley has welcomed people seeking education, renewal, community, and reflection. While the mission has evolved - from school to conference center - the purpose has remained remarkably consistent: caring for people in a place that invites transformation." 💚

Where would we be without our incredible kitchen staff?🌟

Greg was nominated to be an All Star because of the incredible dedication that he brings to his position as Chanco's Kitchen Manager. He is always willing to pitch-in, to go above and beyond for the guests. His drive to improve his skills and his processes, constantly looking for ways he can be marginally better, is so highly regarded by his coworkers.

Thank you, Greg, for your service to Chanco!

There is a song called "Sanctuary" that has been sung so many times at our centers, the halls echo with its melody. It's a simple and calming song, frequently brought out for quieter worship services or as a good night ritual. The first line of the song is a request- "Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary."

How blessed are we to have centers full of people who have taken this request and made a mission statement of it. They say, "we shall be the sanctuary. We shall be the home. When the road gets long and the sky grows dark, we shall be the place to welcome people in."

They are the hands and feet of God, making God's earthly sanctuaries ready for God's people.
Pure and holy, tried and true 💚

There is something about returning to a center and being greeted by a warm, familiar face. That feeling of coming home made manifest by a person ready to welcome you 💚

At Procter, one of those people is Robin Kimbler-
"Robin does an amazing job of making every person who walks through Procter's doors for a retreat or meeting feel seen and loved! She is the keeper of all the logistics and works hard to embody and teach hospitality and belonging to all!" 💐
[Image ID: A photo of Robin, smiling for the camera. Behind her, there is art, including a watercolor of Procter Center. Above the photo, it says, “Staff All-Star, Robin Kimbler, Procter Center.” The background is a beach scene from Mustang Island with white stars dotted around the border. End image ID]

Who else needs a vacation to Sonoma County right about now 🙋

One of the main buildings at Bishop's Ranch is their eponymous Ranch House. Close to 100 years old, it was built in the Spanish mission-style and has been the wonderful home for their ministry since 1947. It overlooks their GORGEOUS (look at that photo!) natural setting, Russian River Valley, and even Mt. St. Helena. An absolute gem of a place, run by knowledgeable, dedicated, and hospitable staff- definitely put Bishop's Ranch on your travel bucket list!

The rolling hills are green, the sky is blue, and the house itself is red/brown and covered in ivy. There is a permanent labyrinth next to the House, nestled among some trees. Our centers are incredible partners for organizations looking for loving hospitality 💚

"Even with all the rain and lightning, our volunteers said this was our best camp yet! Thank you so much for the beautiful environment, the outstanding hospitality, and the great meals. We are so thankful to work alongside you in providing an amazing camp experience for these kids. On the bus ride home, one of the boys sighed when we got back to Phoenix and said, 'Ugh. Back to reality....' Along with our volunteers, your staff reflects the love of Jesus and helps the kids feel safe and loved - thank you for partnering with us."

"Krista's role at DaySpring has changed many times and she is the swiss army knife of DaySpring. Name a department and she has worked in it. In the last year she took over as Reservations Director. She guides groups through the process of booking and planning, as well as answers the unexpected questions with kindness, creativity, and know-how. I'm nominating her because I'm proud of her, in particular, as she takes on the important role of being the first voice for all who experience welcome and transformation at DaySpring."

Let's show some love to Krista and all incredible reservations staff! They are truly people who keep the wheels on our centers moving💐🌟

There is so much pulling on our time, our attention, our cares these days that finding your center can feel like an Olympic sport.
Retreats offer people a chance to slow down and be intentional about their days, to walk peacefully among beloved community rather than hurry from task to task. They give you the chance to ground yourself in your values and your community so you can reenter the world feeling balanced and strong 💚
[Image ID: Text on a tan, blue, and yellow softly-blurry picture featuring a labyrinth overlay. The text reads, "To disconnect from the world and reconnect with myself in a peaceful place apart." End Image ID]

Not only do our centers have beautiful outdoor spaces - their indoors frequently host incredible and meaningful works of art!

At Chanco on the James, their main building, Grice Lounge, has a large stone sculpture set into a chimney. This sculpture was created by Kevin Brown, Chief of the Pamunkey Indian Tribe. Brown is a renowned artist - in addition to Chanco, he also has works on display at the Jamestown settlement and at the National Museum of the American Indian. Chanco is honored to have his work on site and to have him as a community member!

What hidden stories lie in the art in your center?

Set into it is a large grey sculpture of a feather. Above the photo says "Center Highlight," and below the photo says "Kevin Brown Scuplture at Chanco on the James." End image ID]

We know that God walks amongst us in all of our centers. God is present in the stillness and in the silliness, in the joys and in the comforts, at the crowded tables and on the solitary paths.

Where have you met God at your center?
[Image ID: At the top of the image, it asks, "Where do people encounter God at your center?" Below it is a photo of the lake and the chapel at Procter Center at sunset. There are geese flying in formation away from the camera, toward the sun. The fields in the distance are drenched in golden sunlight. Below the photo, a yellow textbox reads, "Where don't I encounter God? But I encounter God most personally during our candlelit complines with music in our chapel, when I spend time on or in the lake with the grand expanse of sky above, around the campfire with a community, and when harvesting flowers on the farm."
