🐾 And with that, we’ve reached the end of our Dog Days of Summer!

For our final featured piece, we’re heading out onto the plains with “Going Against the Grain,” a photograph by Carl Schadel.

There’s something wonderfully fitting about ending with this fellow. While the rest of the herd seems to have other plans, one bison has stopped, turned around, and is looking straight back at us. Apparently, somebody didn’t get the memo. 😄

Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared just a sampling of the paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and other artwork that made up this month’s show. A big thank you to all of the artists who participated and to everyone who visited, attended our reception, followed along online, and supported our local creative community. ❤️

And now, it’s time for a change!

We’re saying goodbye to Dog Days of Summer and getting ready for September’s A, B, C Show. 📚🎨 We can’t wait to show you what our artists have created next!

🪶 One last look at some of the wild side of Dog Days of Summer!

With those bright eyes, beautiful markings, and just a little bit of attitude, this kestrel certainly knows how to pose for the camera.

“Kestral Falcon” by Nancy McKenzie is a photography entry in our Dog Days of Summer show and a wonderful example of the wildlife that found its way into this month’s wonderfully varied collection.

Although the Guild is currently closed while we transition between shows, we still have a couple of August pieces left to share with you.

Tomorrow, we’ll feature our final artwork from Dog Days of Summer before turning our attention to September’s A, B, C Show! 🎨📚

🐟 There’s a whole world beneath the surface!

Life on Oreland, created by one of our youth artists, brings a wonderfully imaginative underwater world to our Dog Days of Summer show. From the pair of rays gliding through the water to the tiny colorful creatures tucked into the scene, there’s so much personality here to discover.

We especially love having work from young artists hanging alongside our adult members and exhibitors. Encouraging the next generation of artists is an important part of keeping creativity thriving in our community. 💛

The Guild is currently closed as we begin wrapping up Dog Days of Summer and prepare the gallery for our September A, B, C — Back to School show.

But we’re not quite finished sharing August’s artwork with you! We have a few more pieces from Dog Days of Summer to celebrate right here before we say goodbye to this wonderfully wild collection. 🐾

🌊 Just out for a little summer wander.

Summer Wandering by Charlene Murdock captures a quiet little moment with a gull strolling along against a soft blue background. There’s something wonderfully simple and peaceful about this acrylic—and maybe just a touch of that unmistakable seabird attitude. 😄

It’s another fun reminder of just how many different creatures have found their way into the Cheyenne Artists Guild’s Dog Days of Summer show.

🌄 Some mornings are worth stopping for.

Mesmerizing Morning by Santosh Rasaily captures one of those quiet Western scenes where the landscape seems to stretch forever. A herd of cattle fills the foreground while a lone rider watches over them, framed by glowing mountains and a dramatic morning sky.

There’s a wonderful sense of both stillness and story in this watercolor—one of those scenes that invites you to linger for a while.

😄 You know that spot. The one you just can’t quite reach.

Good Scratch by Jeremy Guidry captures that wonderfully familiar animal moment—but with a bold, imaginative twist. Created in marker, the piece is packed with vivid color, geometric patterns, and a whole lot of personality.

It’s another great example of just how differently our artists interpreted the Dog Days of Summer theme.

🐟 Now this one might come with a few tall tales.

Fish Stories by Randall Hinds brings something a little different to our Dog Days of Summer show. Created in metal and mounted against rustic wood, this fish has plenty of character—and feels right at home in Wyoming.

After all, animals don’t have to be furry, feathered, or four-legged to make the show!

Stop by the Cheyenne Artists Guild to see Fish Stories in person, along with the wide variety of animal-inspired artwork on display this month.

🦉 There’s something quietly magical about an owl.

With her soft, muted feathers, watchful eyes, and just a touch of pink from the flowers around her, Sage has such a gentle presence.

This lovely watercolor by Kristin Ray is part of the Cheyenne Artists Guild’s Dog Days of Summer show, where we’re celebrating animals of all kinds—from beloved pets and barnyard friends to the wildlife that shares our world.

🐴 Oh, that face. Those ears. That tiny halter.

Red Foal, created by Jessica Fritz in soft pastels and colored pencil, captures one of those wonderfully sweet stages when a horse is still all fuzzy coat, long legs, and curiosity. ❤️

This piece is part of the Cheyenne Artists Guild’s Dog Days of Summer show, celebrating the animals that inspire us—whether they share our homes, our barns, or the wild spaces around us.
