We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Chairman and CEO Dick Davidson. Condolences to his family.

Richard “Dick” Davidson, the former chairman and chief executive officer of Union Pacific Railroad who helped shape the modern railroad by expanding its footprint and advancing its technology, has died at the age of 84.

The Union Pacific Historical Society gathers, preserves. and disseminates historical photos, documents, and information.

We have an agreement with the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming to keep archives and a great number of historical Union Pacific Railroad drawings and other resources.

One of the most fun parts of the UPHS is our conventions! The 2026 convention is in Cheyenne, WY in mid August. Details to come soon!

Sunday morning, the western leg of the Coast-to-Coast tour begins! If you are coming out trackside, remember to stay 25 feet back from all railroad tracks at all times ; do NOT trespass on railroad property. If you are following the Big Boy, drive safely and be courteous to others.

Ready for an unforgettable railroad experience in the heart of the West?

The annual UPHS convention will be held in Cheyenne Wyoming commencing on either Wednesday August 12 or Thursday August 13 and run through Saturday August 15. It will be held at the Red Lion Hotel which has totally renovated all the rooms this winter and is now in the process of renovating the main lobby and convention area. We are still working on the particular details but there will definitely be tours of the Cheyenne Roundhouse with various rolling stock outside to view. It looks like Cheyenne Depot Days will run the same weekend as our convention now giving us more opportunities,

The hotel is giving us a guaranteed room rate of $109.00 plus tax a night during the convention and two days before and after the convention if you want to stay and do some exploring. Cheyenne Frontier Days will run the last two weeks of July and there may be some additional activities afterwards.
