Kids are inspired by their peers—so when they see classmates running kickoff assemblies, installing Gratitude Spots, building the Gratitude Wall, or handing out Kindness Cards, they naturally join in.

This peer-to-peer leadership strengthens belonging, lifts morale, and helps create a culture where kindness isn’t just encouraged—it’s lived. 💛

Did you know our program is entirely student-led? That’s one of the reasons it works so well. When kids take the lead—installing Gratitude Spots, building Gratitude Walls, and handing out Kindness Cards—they feel proud, empowered, and invested. This sense of ownership creates true buy-in. Students aren’t just participating… they’re leading the movement and inspiring their entire school community to look for the good.

Before the pandemic, we used to invite former student leaders and teachers to pack Gratitude Campaign materials for new schools. They loved knowing they were “passing the torch,” and many slipped handwritten notes of encouragement into the boxes like this one by a parent:

Dear Mountain View School,

We ALL have so much to be grateful for and the Look for the Good Program is an awesome way for us to remember this each day. I am grateful that my son's school participates in this two week program as well. I proudly wear my "You Matter" shirt each week and many people ask me about it and compliment what a great program it sounds like! When I am at a participating school, I admire the beautiful post-it note murals! I enjoy reading all the grateful notes. It is also fun to step on the spots in the hallways for a moment to think about what we are grateful for. Look for the Good provides a happy, positive and respectful school environment. Always remember "You Matter" and spread the word that "Everyone Matters!"

Gratefully yours,
Paula Podzunas
