The 2026 Connecticut Early Duck Season has come to a close. Most folks are reporting less success than in prior years. Weather certainly played a factor in things. What do you think? How was your early season?

Thank you to everyone who came out today to our CWA rendezvous. We introduced 20 interested hunters to waterfowling in our introduction to waterfowl hunting seminar, tuned up for the season on 5 stand, swapped gear in the tag sale, and fed around 60 people some good BBQ pork, brisket, Mac and cheese, and coleslaw. We hope you all have a safe and productive hunting season. Thanks to Guilford Sportsmen’s Association for hosting.

Many of CWAs founders may be gone. And the “look” has been update. However the mission continues strong: To protect, promote and enhance Connecticuts wetland, waterfowl and conservation.

NEW CT LAW IMPACTING HUNTERS: Effective May 20th, 2026, all unregistered vessels, including kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, rowboats, and other paddlecraft used in the State of Connecticut must display the owner’s name and contact information. This change in the law was intended to provide a means to contact the owners of vessels which may have floated off or been left unattended prior to initiating search and rescue efforts unnecessarily. Affixing contact information is most commonly accomplished through the use of orange coast-guard stickers. CWA has procured a limited number of these stickers which it will provide for free to members as well as any individual who has purchased a current 2026 Connecticut Duck Stamp. Visit our website and fill out the contact form to receive your stickers while they last.

Tickets are live (for this event and every event through 6/30/2027) on our website. Come support education and conservation at our second annual Duckpin bowling event at Highland Bowl in Cheshire! $150 gets you a private lane for 2 hours for up to 5 bowlers, shoe rental, a pizza, and a pitcher of soda. Additional food available upon request. All proceeds raised will be directed towards the CWA Tom Marshall Scholarship.
