ABBA List

ABBA List ABBA List is a 501(c)3 non-profit organized to offer programs that benefit people in need. August 2010 was when the ABBA List Resource Website was launched.

The ABBA List is organized to offer programs that benefit people in need. The website lists free support resources available in local churches and in the community of Chesapeake, Virginia, and the surrounding area. In September 2012, the ABBA List was approved by the IRS as a 501(c)3 public charity and the first board of directors began their monthly meetings. January 2013, the Chesapeake Area She

lter Team (CAST), launched providing emergency overnight winter shelter to the homeless in local churches that hosted one week at a time. Eight winter seasons later, 20 churches hosted 22 weeks (5 months!) averaging 40+ guests per night.... men, women, and families. God provides and His people that answered the call to serve are blessed indeed! The 2021-2022 seasons were handled differently due to the pandemic. If interested in learning more, email [email protected]. Each of these programs is a ministry; a calling from God. Each seemed impossible, yet nothing is impossible for God. Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸
May we never take their sacrifice for granted.
We pray for the families who carry both pride and loss, and for a nation that remains grateful for the freedoms purchased at such a great cost.
Lord, grant peace to the fallen, comfort to their loved ones, and unity and compassion within our communities.
With gratitude this Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Some days, peace looks like quiet water, a deep breath, and gratitude for the people who continue showing up to serve others well. ❤️ Thank you to all who serve with CAST. It would not be possible without our local volunteers.

Lord, on this National Day of Prayer,
help us lead with kindness, listen with understanding, and treat one another with grace.
May we find unity even in our differences, peace in difficult moments, and compassion for our neighbors.
Guide our communities, our leaders, and our hearts toward love, respect, and hope.
Amen.

Sunday mornings are a time to pause… to reflect… and to give thanks.
At Chesapeake Area Shelter Team, we’re reminded that it takes a community to care for a community.
Churches opening their doors.
Volunteers showing up with willing hands.🙏
Neighbors giving what they can.
It’s never just about shelter…
It’s about dignity, compassion, and reminding someone they are not alone.
As we start this Sunday, we’re grateful for each of you who continue to be part of this mission. 💙
If you’ve ever thought about getting involved… this is your sign.
A small act of kindness can make a lasting impact.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40

Good Friday is a day to pause… and reflect on love, sacrifice, and service.✝️
At Chesapeake Area Shelter Team, we see that lived out through our incredible volunteers.
The meals served, the warm beds prepared, the kindness shared—none of it happens without you.
Today feels like a meaningful reminder…
that even the smallest acts of care can make the biggest difference.
We are so grateful for each of you who shows up with compassion and heart. 💛
