ABBA List

It’s a quiet Sunday morning here in Chesapeake. Coffee is brewing, our neighborhoods are waking up, and for many of us, home is where we find a little rest from the world. ☕️

“He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:2–3

Here at Chesapeake Area Shelter Team (CAST), those words remind us how much it means to have a safe place to rest.

For neighbors in our own community experiencing homelessness, that place isn’t always guaranteed. Through CAST, our churches, volunteers and community come together to provide a warm meal, a safe place to sleep and the simple comfort of knowing someone cares.

Sometimes shelter is about more than a roof. It’s about offering a little peace in the middle of a difficult season.

May we continue to be that peaceful place for our neighbors who need it most. 🙏

Happy Sunday, Chesapeake.

Quiet mornings feel different when you stop and remember what a blessing it is to wake up with a roof over your head.

A warm place to sleep. A safe place to wake up. Something many of us can easily take for granted.

As CAST prepares for another shelter season, may we remember our neighbors who don’t always have that comfort — and continue to open our hearts, our churches and our community to help. 💙

What a wonderful way to start our CAST season! 💙
CAST was recently nominated to receive the monthly community gift from Decker Law Firm — and we are so grateful to have been selected for a $1,000 donation!
A few of our board members had the pleasure of accepting the check, but this gift really belongs to the entire CAST community — the churches, volunteers, donors and community partners who come together each winter to care for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Every dollar helps us prepare for another season of providing a warm place to sleep, a hot dinner, breakfast and, most importantly, a place where people are welcomed and treated with dignity.
Thank you, Decker Law Firm, for investing in our community and in the mission of CAST. 💙

Cold weather will be here before we know it — and CAST is already preparing.
Each winter, CAST works alongside local churches and community partners to provide warmth, meals, shelter and support for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
And it truly takes a community. 💙
As we prepare for the upcoming winter season, we would love to connect with more churches, civic organizations, clubs and community groups interested in helping serve.

Now is the time to get involved and help us prepare for the cold months ahead.

💙 A Sunday Reminder About the Power of Community
Sometimes helping our neighbors starts with something very simple — opening a door.
That’s what the Chesapeake Area Shelter Team (CAST) is all about.

Churches, volunteers, organizations and community partners come together to provide a safe place, a meal, kindness and dignity to neighbors experiencing homelessness in Chesapeake.

As we prepare for another season of serving, we are incredibly grateful for everyone who has already stepped forward — and there is always room for more. 💙
Your church, organization or group can make a difference. Whether it's hosting, volunteering, providing meals or supporting the mission in another way, every act of service matters.
