True or false: Comandeering the all-terrain wheelchair on Trail of Heroes may result in improved mood, boosted endorphins and the inability to stop telling your friends all about said experience. 🦼🌲 The answer? You'll just have to come see for yourself on Saturday! 😉

Trail of Heroes is a 3/4 mile long, unpaved and [mostly] unaltered nature trail, meant for individuals of all mobilities to explore by walking or cruising on one of our two all-terrain wheelchairs. Hero Kids Foundation is proud to be the first and ONLY nature center with this kind of attraction, offering a chance for families to adventure together outdoors and see what "connect, restore and thrive" is all about.

📣📣Volunteers needed! 📣📣

It's almost time to celebrate 12 years of 'giving light to those who serve' and we can't do it without YOU! Volunteers are needed to make our celebration a success, including helping with our animal encounters, overseeing pumpkin carving, lending a hand with face painting and more. Grab a buddy or come alone [and make a new one!] - all are welcome!

Comfortable shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting messy in are a must. Bug spray and a jacket are encouraged.

Our newest volunteer recruits - our Marine friends from up in Yorktown - worked so hard on several improvements to our Trail of Heroes and we can't wait to share it with you!

HKF's Trail of Heroes is Virginia's first and only unpaved/unaltered nature trail for all mobilities! It's easily accessible via one of our two all-terrain wheelchairs or by foot, and specifically designed to foster a sense of adventure and connection amongst whomever ventures it together. 🦼💙🌲

Good food, good times and good company await at our 12th anniversary celebration and the grand opening of Trail of Heroes!
