What. A. Weekend.
We would like to thank everyone you participated in, or supported, our Back to School tournament in Chesapeake this weekend. 79 teams…yes, 79… 7 locations, 13 fields across the city, 5 local baseball baseball organizations supported, and over $2,000 donated to local Middle School baseball program. THAT is what happens when you play local…it means everything. A tournament of this magnitude doesn’t just happen, it takes a village, and this one was especially challenging when we lost 2 fields due to a football game. Southside Crew organization stepped up and ran 2 locations at the last minute, Canes coastal, Tallwood High School Baseball, Indian River Middle School, Greenbrier Force all running locations. Our appreciate for their support cannot be overstated. City of Chesapeake parks & Recreation prepping some fields and managing trash at many. Thanks to MT Pack and Steve Heaton for their hours sweltering in the concession stand at BM Williams to make sure everyone got their loaded nachos and pulled pork sandwiches. Joel Compton for handling the trash at BM Williams, the most unpleasent of jobs.
We are humbled by the support, and we will continue to strive for perfection in these events. We acknowledge the hiccups, and will learn and improve. As long as you keep supporting us, we will continue to give back and support your kids and their programs. The 757 (and surrounding) baseball community is a remarkable group; one of which we are proud to be a part.
