Repeat Domestic Violence Offender Registry - Virginia Petition
Domestic violence is not a one-time incident. It’s a pattern.
And too often, those patterns aren’t fully seen until it’s too late.
In Virginia, there is currently no public system that tracks repeat domestic violence offenders in a way that helps identify patterns, increase accountability, or protect future victims.
In 2025, lawmakers introduced Virginia House Bill 1991 to address this gap, but it didn’t move forward.
That doesn’t mean the need disappeared.
Other states are beginning to act. In 2026, Tennessee became the first to establish a domestic violence offender registry, proving this is possible. Various other states have introduced Bills. In other states, Petitions are being circulated,
Now it’s time for Virginia to take that next step.
We’ve launched a petition calling on Virginia lawmakers to establish a Domestic Violence Offender Registry—because recognizing patterns sooner can save lives.
