Wow - this week's JFCS Staff Retreat, held at Temple Beth Sholom, Cherry Hill, was truly one for the books! From delicious breakfast and lunch catered by Soups & Sweets to icebreakers, hands-on workshops and a surprise boot-scootin’ line dancing finale with ZZ DANCE, the day was filled with learning, laughter, creativity, and connection. Staff had the opportunity to explore everything from baking scones and homemade butter to yoga, terrarium-making, henna, resilience, and Jewish values.

Special thanks to longtime supporter and lay leader Peter Fischer, who joined us for an inspiring conversation about what first drew him to JFCS and why he and his wife, Betsy, remain so deeply committed to our mission. His heartfelt words were a powerful reminder of the community-wide impact of our work. We're also grateful to Advisory Council Chair Rhona Cohen for moderating the discussion.

Most importantly, the retreat gave us time to connect with one another, recharge, and celebrate the incredible team that makes JFCS such a special place.

Kudos to our amazing Retreat Committee for bringing this memorable day to life: Meri Seligman, Carly Schaffer, Sydney Breslow, Maureen Briggs, Lisa Freedman Enda, Kelly Giuliano, Miranda Mason, Ellen Masters, Deena Neuwirth, Hilary Platt, and Tony Saura!

Thanks to the generosity of Leslie and Adam Greenspan and their children, staff from our Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Program recently embarked on a special shopping trip to Kohl's that resulted in 157 new winter coats for JFCS clients of all ages. This incredible initiative will help keep local children, adults, and families warm throughout the winter, with additional funds going toward warm winter socks.

We are deeply grateful to community members like the Greenspan family, who make giving back a priority and help provide warmth, comfort, and dignity to those who need it most!

Last week, JFCS was honored to be part of a meaningful ceremony celebrating the service and sacrifice of South Jersey's veterans. Thank you to the Camden County Government, Jewish War Veterans Furer-Barag-Wolf Post 126, Jefferson Health - New Jersey, and
Samaritan for bringing our community together to recognize these deserving honorees. We are proud to support all those who have valiantly served our country. ❤️🤍💙

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Mark Pinzur! 🌟

When a family member was diagnosed with a degenerative memory condition, Mark was inspired to find a meaningful way to support others facing similar challenges. In 2018, that journey led him to JFCS and our Café Connection program.

A retired math teacher, accomplished musician, and lifelong educator, Mark has become a beloved Café Connection Guest Artist. Through Broadway film clips, storytelling, and sing-alongs featuring classics like Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, and Guys and Dolls, he creates joyful moments that bring people together and tap into the powerful connection between music and memory.

But Mark's impact extends far beyond his musical talents. Whether he's welcoming participants, lending a helping hand, or offering a friendly conversation, he helps make Café Connection the warm and supportive community it is today.

As facilitator Reva Farenback-Brateman shares, "Mark is dependable and open to doing anything that needs to be done... He is a joy to work with."

We're incredibly grateful for the creativity, compassion, and enthusiasm Mark brings to JFCS. Thank you, Mark, for sharing your gifts and helping our clients and caregivers feel connected, supported, and valued. ❤️
