🌟Member spotlight: Phyllis Fishbein🌟
Welcome back to our Shining Stars series, dedicated to our members, because a chorus is harmony in numbers, but each voice is a unique star that adds its own brilliance to the song. Just to be clear -- each and every one of our members is a Shining Star! This feature is simply our way of celebrating the unique voices, stories, and heart each member brings to Jersey Sound. Together, they’re what make our chorus so special.
For more than 11 years, tenor Phyllis Fishbein has been an important part of the Jersey Sound family. She discovered the chorus while searching online for a vocal group to join, and we're certainly glad she found us!
Music has been a lifelong passion for Phyllis. She has sung in church choirs and community groups for many years and is also a classically trained violinist. Over the years she has played a variety of instruments, although she says there have always been too many instruments and too little time! In addition to these musical talents, she has also done some arranging, especially for her longtime quartet, RPM.
Within Jersey Sound, Phyllis keeps herself busy serving as co-lead of the Visual Team, chairing the Social Committee, and providing pitches with her trusty pitch pipe whenever needed. She is always one of the first volunteers for roadside clean-up. Her dedication helps keep both our performances and our chorus community running smoothly.
Outside of chorus, Phyllis has spent more than 40 years serving others as a nurse practitioner and continues to practice today. Family is also a big part of her life. She and her husband are proud parents of two married sons and grandparents to a granddaughter. Their family also includes a sweet puppy who undoubtedly keeps things interesting!
If you know Phyllis, you may also know that her talents extend beyond music. In years past, she performed as a belly dancer at county fairs, proving that she is never afraid to step into the spotlight. She's also an avid reader, a writer, and someone who is passionate about the causes and beliefs she holds dear.
Whether she's singing tenor, helping organize chorus activities, or sharing her many talents and interests, Phyllis brings energy, dedication, and personality to Jersey Sound. We are grateful to have her as one of our shining stars!
