A feel good, happy ending! These two senior sisters at age 15 found themselves spending a few days at CVAC (in the office, in a comfy playpen) when their elderly owner could no longer care for them. A kind hearted person stepped up to foster them so they can live out their days in a home. THANK YOU FOSTER, what a gift to them! đź’—

THANKFUL THURSDAY! PLEASE SHARE.
ALL of these dogs have their adoption fees sponsored! Can the “sponsor a shelter animal” trend be growing? We hope so as one from last week is already in his forever home! THANK YOU to the individuals providing these sponsorships. All are spayed or neutered and ready for a new home at zero adoption fee. Call CVAC at 870 994-4445 to set up a meet and greet. And the ??? Box….someone JUST messaged another sponsorship with no specific dog attached to it so at this time you can meet any dog with the possibility of no adoption fee.
From top left and going clockwise you will see Monica, Flash, Pork Chop, ??? , Diva and Pandora.

Our dear friend…
Sandra Sue Elliott of Cherokee Village passed away on June 14, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Sandra was born in Kennett, MO, on October 24, 1961, to Col. Bill and Billye Stuart, who preceded her in death.

Sandra was raised in Malden, MO, but eventually moved to Blytheville, where she graduated from high school. Shortly after completing her studies, she entered the workforce. In time, her family relocated to Jonesboro, where she stayed until 2014, when she moved to Cherokee Village. Sandra was a wonderful cook and an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks sports. She cherished her time with her family and considered her grandchildren her greatest achievement. She spent her days doting on her grandkids and enjoying time with them on Lake Thunderbird. Being a grandmother filled her heart with love and her life with happiness. Sandra will be greatly missed by family, friends, and loved ones alike.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Leanne Cook (Zac), of Jonesboro; her sister, Tamra Robertson (Bob), of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Bo and Tucker; her niece and nephew, Casey Robertson and Chris Robertson, both of Chattanooga, TN; and her beloved chiweenie, Bitsy.

A visitation in Sandra’s honor will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Cherokee Village Animal Shelter at:

In addition to many generous individuals who give of their time and monetary support, we receive support from our local businesses that are a backbone of our community. If you are looking for ways to support CVAC, it can be done in many ways you may not be aware of:
đź’™ every time you shop for your own pets at the Little Paws Pet Care booth in the The Frugal Fox store outside of Hardy, a portion of the sales is donated directly to CVAC. Homemade treats, dog and cat accessories, all kinds of pet supplies can be found there.
đź’™ Jurassik Bark always gives a shout out to the animals that may have been CVAC residents prior to adoption, widening the awareness of what great pets there are that would be an addition to a home.
đź’™ Tractor Supply and Spring River Farmers market welcome our animals for adoption events.
đź’™ Areawide News has featured an adoptable of the week for a couple of years in their weekly newsletter and online.
💙 some folks “round up” their payment when at North Arkansas Veterinary Hospital/Dr Mills to go toward our ongoing medical bill.
Easy ways to support, all while supporting our local business community.

Jessie came to CVAC for a fairly short stay before her adoptive family arrived at the gates before opening time to meet this pretty Yellow Lab. Off she went in a foster to adopt arrangement but within three days her adopters came back to make it official! THANK YOU ADOPTERS and enjoy life with Jessie!

A huge THANK YOU to the three separate individuals sponsoring the adoption fee for our dogs that deserve that “second look” 👀. Pandora in the top left corner is being sponsored by the same couple that sponsored 3 of her pups. Monica, top middle, is being sponsored by Susan, who so often sponsors a dog in need of being spotlighted a little bit more. And then the next three dogs (all male, Flash, Jag and Pork Chop) are being sponsored by Kayleigh who asked for adoption sponsorships in lieu of birthday presents. What a GREAT idea!
Call CVAC at 870 994-4445 to set up a meet and greet. OR to sponsor a dog yourself. One nice aspect is that just like Foster Friday animals, the sponsored dogs get a little bit more FB promotion, so PLEASE SHARE.
