Sometimes love looks a lot like chaos. The 2024 Sharp County Angel Tree project kicked off in November. This project exists because of our community’s generosity. Each eligible child was assigned a paper angel. 264 angels were dispersed around the county. Then magic began. A mom picks an Angel to teach her kids generosity. A Sunday School class pools resources for an Angel. Businesses large and small chip in.That’s magic. That’s love. Now comes the chaos. Over the course of a week 264 gifts are dropped off, numbered angels attached. Volunteers sort gifts by family groups. Think family 77 child 2 of 3. Volunteers put out the word about any unclaimed angels. And then, more magic and more love. Donations pour in. Hugs are given. Volunteers assemble bikes, contact recipients, shop, bicker and belly laugh. It’s chaos. It’s magic. It’s love. Do the volunteers feel overwhelmed? Absolutely. Are mistakes made? You bet! But everyone wades through the chaos because magic is on the other side of chaos. And so is love.
Thank you to our volunteers, BJ Martin, Joyce Snearly, Brenda (Stout)Sharp, Cindi Hansen, Brenda Sharp, Shirley Melton-Clemmons, Phylene Crook and Dale Corter.
I would also like to say thank you to:
Rotary of Quad Cities, NEAC, B&B Supply, United Country Cotham, FNBC, Ace Auto Sales, A-Z Industries, Ash Flat Church of Christ, Timely Club, Alpha Signa Tau-Fayetteville, city Hall-Ash Flat, Walmart-Ash Flat, Evolve, Tri County Farm & Ranch, First Community-Cherokee Village & Cave City, 4 H, Dollar General-Highland & Ash Flat, Bank of Cave City & Bank of Evening Shade and to so many individuals in the community.
We could not have done this without you! THANK YOU.
