Patsy is still looking for homes for 2 seriously cute female pups and their mom. The 3 other pups found homes with friends and neighbors.

It has been discovered that like many other dogs, mom has a propensity to go after chickens. Knowing this, she is now needing to be tied up to ensure she doesn’t attack any more of Patsy’s sister’s chickens. Just another responsibility that Patsy has taken on, along with stepping up to take care of this abandoned pregnant mom that had five puppies within three days of showing up at Patsy’s home. Mom will need a home where she will have no access to chickens or a fenced yard, preventing any further issues with this behavior.

If anyone knows of a rescue that is taking in moms and pups, or dogs in general, please let Patsy know. We have been able to help with food and can offer spots at our clinic for spay/neuter surgeries, but we have no facility. We are that hoping that our followers will pass on this information to those on and off of Facebook. These two sweet girls and their mom, deserve to find loving homes of their own.

These two, adorable, ebony, male kittens were born on April 22 to a mama cat that had just moved here with her humans and decided she wanted to sneak out and check out the area. She had no idea that deceptive act would change her life and produce two other precious lives that now need homes of their own.

One can’t look back and regret not having scheduled a spay surgery earlier. What is done is done and you now get that surgery scheduled for her and have her join the “no more litters league.”

These two boys are super sweet, inside kittens and have been loved and adored by two girls ages 10 and 11. Although there are dogs in the home the kittens haven’t had too much exposure to them.

The kittens are all in with using a litter box and are eating kitten food. Purrfect preparations to have them be ideal additions to a loving home.

Please DM Shannon with any questions or your desire to provide one or two kittens the home of their dreams! Doesn’t every kitten brought into this world deserve that? We believe so! These two boys will be at a good age to be neutered at our October clinic!

Not just for cattle.

Most pet owners have never heard of New World screwworm, yet it’s one of the most destructive parasites affecting animals. Unlike typical maggots that feed on dead tissue, screwworm larvae invade and feed on living tissue. Combined with the fact that a single female fly can lay hundreds of eggs in or near a wound, a minor injury can quickly become a serious medical concern.

With confirmed New World screwworm cases in Mexico, Texas, and New Mexico, and concerns about spread to neighboring states, pet parents should know the warning signs, prevention and treatment strategies.

To help protect your pet in high-risk areas:

🪰 Check your pet daily for wounds, cuts, swelling, and skin irritations. Screwworm flies are attracted to open wounds, tick bites, ear infections, hot spots, surgical incisions, and other areas of damaged skin.

🪰 Keep all wounds clean, protected, and treated promptly. Any cut, scratch, or skin lesion should be monitored closely and never left unattended.

🪰 Know the warning signs of infestation. Watch for swelling, discharge, a foul odor, excessive licking, pain, or a wound that appears to be getting larger instead of healing. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you notice any of these signs.

🪰 Use fly-control measures and repellents consistently, especially if your pet has a wound or recent surgical site.

UPDATE: Alissa has provided the loving home this lil’ boy needed!

It’s heartwarming to see how quickly a kitten adjusts to life in a loving and caring atmosphere. This sweet boy is looking for that lifetime loving home of his own. Please address any questions and interest to his foster mom, Annie, @ 719-321-9087. Hopefully, we can get this wee one into his permanent home shortly and have him neutered at our October clinic, becoming a member of the “no litters league.”

We truly appreciate those individuals, like Annie, that are willing to care for a homeless, stray or abandoned cat or dog that has nowhere to go. We have no facility and have done our best to care for these animals when we can, but our mission is preventing these situations through spay/neuter. It’s the solution to this preventable situation.

There is no loss of kittens for those seeking a new addition to their home. This little boy seemed to have hitched a ride to Salem from the Walmart in Ash Flat. The finder of this kitten has dogs and her friend took in the approximately 5 week old kitten to care for him until a loving home of his own can be found. This family already has a cat that is not fond of him and they are hoping to find him a new home quickly. ⭐️MAKING THE FINANCIAL CASE FOR SPAY/NEUTER⭐️

Every year, communities spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars housing homeless animals. But the math is clear: for every dollar spent on sheltering, a fraction of that cost could prevent the problem in the first place.

Spay/neuter is a cost-effective, long-term solution that saves money while reducing the number of animals in need. Elected officials and decision-makers often respond more to dollars and data than to emotion. That’s why, when advocating for funding, it’s important to
highlight the financial benefits. A simple comparison makes this clear:

1. Sheltering an animal can cost hundreds of dollars per intake, covering the cost of housing, food, staffing, and medical care.

2. Spay/neuter is a one-time expense that costs significantly less, preventing future litters and reducing shelter intake.

The numbers will vary by community, but the trend remains the same: preventing pet homelessness through spay/neuter is far more cost effective than housing homeless animals.

PART TWO

Communities now need to work together with selective admissions to shelters and rescues as a result of the “No Kill” movement which leave strays and abandoned animals in the hands of caring individuals or no help and on their own. We thank Patsy for providing the pregnant mother a place to rest and 3 days later bringing five puppies into this world. Patsy has done her part to prevent the mom from struggling on her own, enabling mom and pups to each have the chance of the ultimate gift of a loving home of their own.

We are here to spread the word. Please open your heart and home if you can. It’s not an easy or simple gift to provide, but these pups are here now and we’re hoping that the dream of being in a forever loving home will be fulfilled through the efforts of those sharing this post and ultimately those responding to the request.
