Over the past several weeks, our chapters have held actions for our statewide Restoration of Rights "Weeks of Action" campaign.

From public demonstrations, to creative performances, to expungement and voting rights restoration clinics, to community cookouts, and to panel discussions, we've been getting the word out about changes to Virginia voting procedures, registering community members to vote, and sharing information about the restoration of rights constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

We're sharing great news! Effective immediately, MOST people who have been convicted of a felony can simply register to vote instead of petitioning for restoration first.

See what felonies are disqualified on the Virginia Department of Elections website:

Under a recent federal court order, individuals convicted of a felony can lose their voting rights in Virginia only if they were convicted of certain “common law felonies” described below. The court order can be found here.

What a weekend we had at the 2026 Grassroots Gathering! It was packed with wonderful discussions of how we can build power together, and we want to thank each person who participated in and contributed to our time together! 🙌

In addition to the accomplishments and stories we shared, we also got to hear from powerful speakers, learn in groups, share our talents, and interact in meaningful ways that help to make our chapters stronger. It is so important that we share our experiences about these issues that affect our lives and why we organize for change!
