Our chapters were out in their communities celebrating, sharing about the work we are doing, and registering voters. What better way to honor the occasion than to build power! 💪✊🖤❤️💛💚

Before the music plays, before the food trucks roll in, before the first family walks through the gate — these folks show up. 🧡

For several months, volunteers have been dreaming of a welcoming, family-friendly space for LGBTQ+ folks, friends, family, and allies to hang out, meet neighbors, eat good food, and enjoy the day.

Williamsburg Area Pride wouldn't be possible without the volunteers giving their time and energy to help build something new. We are so grateful.

It was 1865 in Galveston Bay, Texas that the last African American slaves were notified of their freedom, nearly three years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln. Some would say it is fitting that Texas was then the first state to declare Juneteenth a holiday, with it later becoming a national holiday in 2021. This is the result of many voices that have spoken to and advocated for the importance of recognizing this milestone in our nation's history.

Members of Virginia Organizing contributed to the effort to have Juneteenth declared a state holiday in 2020, and our chapters have participated many in local celebrations throughout the years. ✊🫶🖤❤️💛💚

Our Halifax/South Boston Chapter members have been out canvassing despite the weather (🌧️/☀️) to gather surveys for their transportation campaign. They were passing out flyers today to get the word out into the community. Way to go! 👏

Today is the Day Without Child Care (DWOCC)! Parents and providers are striking — together — for universal child care.

Join us for a virtual rally TONIGHT at 8 p.m. EST, where providers, parents, and Changemakers from across the country will celebrate the successes of the day with state partners and local leaders, hear from elected officials and national partners, and be in community as we launch our Universal Childcare Campaign.

Today, we make visible what this country has ignored for far too long: child care is essential, and providers deserve better. Families deserve better. Our communities deserve better.

Across the country, parents and providers are rising up – together – to demand a universal childcare system that truly works for all of us.

There are 76 events across 28 states, and nearly 3,000 people taking action and mobilizing for our national universal childcare campaign launch.
