One of the ways we walk alongside foster and kinship caregivers is through our trauma-informed workshops. These expert-led sessions provide practical tools and insights to help caregivers better understand and support the children in their homes.

Past workshops have covered topics such as understanding ADHD, the impacts of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum, the importance of play, building strong connections through shared parenting, and more.

Our home-like Connection Cottage is more than a building; it's a space where connections are made, and dignity is prioritized. Stocked with essentials and designed with care, this center is possible because of the community's commitment to supporting families in foster care. From a play studio to a fully functioning kitchen, we're creating environments where children and parents can thrive in hopes of reunification.

Meet more of the Foster Village team!

We’re continuing our team introductions with two people who help build the connections, partnerships, and community that make our work possible:

👋 Valerie, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator - Valerie builds and supports our incredible volunteer community, from recruiting and training volunteers to coordinating opportunities and leading community engagement initiatives. She also leads our teen advocacy program, helping create meaningful ways for the next generation to get involved.

👋 Meredith, Advancement Operations Manager - Whether she’s planning an event, coordinating a fundraising campaign, or strengthening donor engagement, Meredith helps bring our mission to life behind the scenes. She oversees the systems, logistics, and processes that support our development efforts while creating meaningful opportunities for our community to connect with Foster Village.

Meet a few members of our village!
Our team is made up of people who are deeply committed to walking alongside children and families experiencing foster care. Today, we’re introducing three incredible members of our Caregiver Support Team:

👋 Emily, Caregiver Support Manager - Emily is passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive community where caregivers feel connected, encouraged, and equipped. She manages the logistics of our caregiver support programs, helping ensure families have access to the resources, relationships, and support they need to navigate foster care.

👋 Allison, Resource Centers Manager - Allison helps make the Connection Cottage a warm, welcoming space where families can step away from the stress of foster care and simply enjoy being together. She helps create opportunities for families to connect, play, celebrate, and make lasting memories.

👋 Katie, Caregiver Support Clinician - Katie walks alongside caregivers through the complexities of foster care, providing therapeutic support through one-on-one sessions, support groups, and trauma-informed programming that strengthens families and equips caregivers.

Our team is full of passionate people working behind the scenes and alongside families every day. Follow along as we continue introducing more of the people who make up Foster Village Charlotte!

We’re so grateful to the for their generous grant supporting our Welcome Pack program! What makes this grant even more special? We were nominated by foster parents in our community.

Knowing that the families who receive and experience our Welcome Packs see the value of this program and took the time to nominate Foster Village means so much to us.

Something exciting is coming next month!
Introducing our Village Farm Night, a brand-new family-friendly fundraiser celebrating what it means to build community beyond the system.

Join us at Wise Acres Organic Farm on September 26th, for an evening of wood-fired pizza from Wise Pie, farm animals, pumpkins, yard games, and meaningful connection as we come together to support children and families experiencing foster care.

Whether you've been part of our village for years or are looking for a fun fall outing, we'd love to have you join us. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased below!

This space is where connection happens.

For families navigating the complexities of foster care, our support gatherings offer a vital space for connection, understanding, and resources. Caregivers open up about real challenges. From navigating new family dynamics to addressing trauma and attachment issues, they find solace in hearing, “I get it,” from those who truly understand.

While caregivers engage in meaningful conversations, children are cared for by our supportive childcare team, allowing them to play, express big feelings, and connect with peers who share similar stories. And our dedicated staff stands ready to support every step of the way. If you're a local foster or kinship caregiver, join us! We've saved a chair for you.

Because of the generosity of and their Community Awards grant, 12 children in our community were able to enjoy enriching summer experiences while school was out.

From tennis and music camps to hands-on exploratory play, these opportunities gave caregivers the chance to create joyful memories and meaningful experiences for the children in their care. We're so grateful for partners like Lift Up Carolinas!
